Perez Hilton will be able to see his three children again, but under a new set of restrictions as his family continues navigating the aftermath of a serious mental health crisis.

A judge has granted the celebrity blogger supervised visitation with his children while his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, holds temporary legal custody. Before those visits can move forward, Hilton must also receive psychiatric clearance.

The court decision marks an important new stage for Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, after he was hospitalized earlier in August following a crisis at his Florida home.

For now, his mother has stepped into the central caregiving role for his children while Hilton remains hospitalized.

Visits Will Have to Be Supervised

Under the court arrangement, Hilton can spend time with his three children, but he cannot do so without supervision.

The person overseeing the visits must either be a therapist or a family member accepted by both Hilton and his mother. The supervision requirement is not necessarily permanent. It will remain in place until a judge changes the order or Hilton and Teresita agree to another arrangement.

Hilton must first obtain psychiatric clearance, adding another condition before his contact with the children can proceed under the new terms.

The decision allows for continued contact between the father and his children while placing additional safeguards around those visits during his recovery.

His Mother Now Has Temporary Legal Custody

Teresita has officially been granted temporary legal custody of all three of Hilton’s children.

They are son Mario Armando, 13, daughter Mia Alma, 11, and daughter Mayte Amor, 8.

The court order identifies Hilton as the children’s only legal parent and states that he consented to the temporary custody arrangement.

With that responsibility now in Teresita’s hands, she has authority over major decisions affecting the children’s daily lives.

That includes their medical care as well as school matters such as enrollment.

It represents a significant change for the family, placing Hilton’s mother in charge of important practical decisions while he remains focused on treatment.

The Custody Filing Followed a Crisis at Hilton’s Home

The temporary custody case came after Hilton was hospitalized following a mental health crisis at his Florida residence earlier this month.

Family members have said that several relatives were present at the home when he began showing signs that something was seriously wrong.

His three children were there, along with his sister and his niece.

Once the family recognized that Hilton was unwell, the children were removed from the situation.

What followed led to Hilton receiving emergency treatment and remaining hospitalized.

Police later said he was treated for an overdose after an alarming livestream connected to the incident.

He has not yet returned home and continues to receive inpatient hospital care.

A New Family Structure During His Recovery

The court’s decision effectively creates a temporary framework for the family while Hilton’s condition is being addressed.

His mother now has the legal authority needed to manage the children’s immediate needs, while Hilton’s ability to see them is tied to psychiatric clearance and supervised contact.

The arrangement also leaves room for change.

If the court issues a new order, the visitation rules can be modified. Hilton and his mother can also agree to a different arrangement in the future.

For the moment, however, Teresita remains responsible for the children’s major care decisions.

Hilton’s consent to the temporary custody arrangement is an important element of the order. Rather than a situation in which his children have been permanently removed from his life, the current structure establishes conditions for contact while his mother assumes temporary responsibility for their care.

Hilton Remains Hospitalized

The court development comes while Hilton continues receiving treatment as an inpatient.

Teresita’s temporary custody gives the children a family caregiver who can make decisions about school, health care and other important needs without waiting for Hilton to leave the hospital.

At the same time, the supervised visitation order establishes a path for Hilton to maintain contact with Mario, Mia and Mayte once he has received the required psychiatric clearance.

For now, there is no indication in the court arrangement of exactly when the family’s circumstances will change.

The order is designed to remain in place until either the judge intervenes again or Hilton and his mother reach a different agreement.

As Hilton continues treatment, his mother will remain responsible for the children’s care, and any visits between father and children will take place within the boundaries established by the court.
