NANCY GUTHRIE MYSTERY REACHES 200 DAYS AS SEARCH CONTINUES WITHOUT ANSWERS

TUCSON, Ariz. — More than six months after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Arizona home, investigators are still searching for answers as the case reaches another troubling milestone.

Guthrie, the mother of TODAY show host Savannah Guthrie, has now been missing for 200 days. Authorities believe she was taken against her will, but no confirmed information about her whereabouts has emerged.

A DISAPPEARANCE THAT BEGAN IN THE EARLY HOURS

Nancy was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31, after being dropped off at her home in the Catalina Foothills.

She was reported missing the following day after failing to attend church.

Investigators have released surveillance footage that they believe shows a person who may have been involved in her disappearance near her home. Despite the footage and an extensive investigation involving the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and FBI, no suspect has been publicly identified.

TWO RANSOM NOTES ADDED TO THE MYSTERY

The investigation took another unexpected turn when authorities released two ransom notes sent to Tucson television station KOLD.

The first note claimed Nancy was alive and demanded millions of dollars in ransom. A second note made a contradictory claim that Nancy had died shortly after she was taken.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the claims made in either note. Investigators released them in an effort to generate new leads, and officials said the release produced a slight increase in tips.

INVESTIGATORS CONTINUE EXAMINING DNA

Despite the lack of a breakthrough, authorities say the investigation remains active.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said investigators are working with laboratories around the country, including the FBI, to analyze DNA evidence and attempt to combine different pieces of evidence that could help identify a suspect.
