Jenni ‘JWoww’ Farley didn’t expect her kids’ first day of school to start in the hospital.

The Jersey Shore alum, 41, shared a post on Instagram on Thursday, Sept. 3, revealing that she is undergoing one of the “hardest weeks” of her life as she spent time in the hospital on her kids’ first day of school.

“Not the ‘first day of school’ picture I wanted to post… but then again, I guess we wouldn’t have one. ❤️,” Farley, who is mom to daughter Meilani, 11, and son Greyson, 10, wrote in her caption.

“This past week has probably been one of the hardest weeks of my life. I’ve spent every day fighting to get healthy enough to get home to my family while dealing with a horrible kidney infection and appendicitis,” she cont

Farley explained that she hasn’t felt like herself for months and has been “constantly feeling off.” Then, on Friday, Aug. 28, she ended up in the hospital.

“I cannot say enough about the incredible hospital team taking care of me and doing everything they could to get me healthy enough to have this moment with my kids,” she said. “Because no matter where I was, I was going to do my daughter’s hair for her first day. 😂❤️.”

Farley explained that her family pivoted their first day plans so she could still be part of the kids’ big day. Her husband Zack Carpinello brought the kids to the hospital “extra early” so they could all be together.

“We didn’t get the picture in front of the house. We didn’t get the normal first-day morning,” she shared. “We got hospital bracelets, a hospital room, backpacks, hair supplies and a memory I don’t think any of us will ever forget.”

She went on to say that while her situation is temporary, it made her think of the other families who have to go through the same experience every day. She asked her audience to be kind to the kids who are sitting alone, and don’t judge parents by what they do or don’t post.

“You never know what someone is carrying behind closed doors,” Farley wrote. “Our first-day picture looks a little different this year, but we have one. And right now, I’m incredibly grateful for that. ❤️.”

She added, “Here’s to a new school year. May our kids be safe, successful, and above all else… kind.”
