BABY S WAS JUST A NEWBORN — THEN A SHEFFIELD COURT HEARD THE NUMBER OF WOUNDS FOUND ON HER TINY BODY
Baby S had only just entered the world.
But within hours, the newborn girl was at the center of a horrifying murder investigation that has now shocked Sheffield.
Prosecutors told the court that the infant suffered 33 injuries, including 15 separate stab wounds, affecting her face and torso, front and back.
And what investigators allegedly discovered afterward raised even more disturbing questions.
HER BODY WAS FOUND ON A WASHING MACHINE
Baby S was found inside an outhouse at a property in the Wincobank area of Sheffield.
The court heard that she had been wrapped in a towel, placed inside a blue bag and left on top of a washing machine.
Prosecutors also allege that steps were taken to conceal the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death, including cleaning the alleged crime scene.
The discovery came after police were called to the property early on Sunday, August 30, following concerns about the safety of an infant.
A forensic post-mortem later confirmed that Baby S died from stab wounds.
FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES
Four adults have now been charged with murder:
- Andrea Skopova, 20, believed to be Baby S’s mother
- Peter Horvath Jr, 19
- Peter Horvath Sr, 38
- Nina Horvathova, 37
All four also face charges relating to causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.
A 15-year-old girl, who cannot legally be named, has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice.
All five defendants have been remanded in custody.
THE BABY WAS ONLY DAYS OLD — BUT QUESTIONS ARE ALREADY MOUNTING
Court reports say Baby S was born at 37 weeks in the early hours of August 30.
Her mother, Andrea Skopova, later attended hospital, where medical staff raised concerns that led to police being contacted.
The baby’s father has not been publicly identified.
A potential weapon has reportedly been recovered and CCTV is being examined as investigators continue reconstructing what happened.
The four adults are due to face trial, with proceedings scheduled to begin in April 2027.
For now, the most important fact remains this:
