“IT’S COMPLETELY OUT OF CHARACTER” — MASSIVE SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR 31-YEAR-OLD MAN WHO VANISHED INTO AUSTRALIAN RAINFOREST

A 31-year-old man has disappeared after walking into bushland near one of Australia’s most remote rainforest regions — and after days of searching, his family and police are still desperately looking for answers.

A major search-and-rescue operation is underway for Ariel Simon, a 31-year-old man who has been missing from Cow Bay in Queensland’s Daintree region since Monday, September 7.

Police say Ariel was last seen entering bushland near Cape Tribulation Road at around 1:30 p.m.

Hours later, when he failed to return, concerns were raised and emergency crews launched a large-scale search.

By Thursday, the operation had entered its fourth day.

HE WALKED INTO THE BUSHLAND — THEN VANISHED

According to Queensland Police, Ariel was seen going into the bushland shortly before his disappearance was reported.

Police, State Emergency Service volunteers and specialist search crews have since been working through the challenging terrain.

The operation has included the Rescue 510 helicopter and POLAIR, with both aerial and ground teams involved in the search.

Despite the extensive effort, Ariel had not been located as of the latest update.

Police and his family have expressed serious concerns for his welfare.

They have also stressed that his disappearance is out of character.

A MAN WHO STANDS OUT

Ariel is described by police as:

• 31 years old
• Approximately 210cm tall
• Slim build
• Caucasian
• Long blonde hair

His unusual height makes him physically distinctive, and authorities are urging anyone who may have seen him or knows where he could be to come forward.

Ariel works for Rainforest Rescue, an organisation involved in protecting and restoring Australia’s tropical rainforests.

The organisation’s chief executive, Brandon Barber, said the team was deeply concerned about Ariel and grateful to everyone involved in the search.

A SHORT MESSAGE BEFORE HE DISAPPEARED

One detail has also drawn attention.

The day before he vanished, Ariel reportedly posted a brief message on Facebook.

On September 6, he wrote:

“Good morning! Sending love. Peace out.”

The meaning of the message has not been established, and police have not said that it is connected to his disappearance.

For his loved ones, however, every detail from the days surrounding his disappearance is now being examined.

SEARCH TEAMS KEEP GOING

The Daintree is a challenging environment, with dense rainforest and difficult terrain making searches particularly demanding.

Police and SES crews have continued checking the area while aircraft conduct aerial surveillance.

Local residents have also been involved in the effort, with the search drawing concern from the wider Cow Bay community.

Authorities have urged people not to speculate but instead to provide police with any information that could help establish Ariel’s movements.
