A British holidaymaker has vanished in Benidorm after missing his flight home, leaving his family desperate for answers.
Paul Cartwright, 39, from Greater Manchester, was supposed to return home from the popular Spanish resort on Monday.
But he never made it onto the flight — and his loved ones say they have heard nothing from him.
His wife, Sara Louise Cartwright, and his mother, Eileen Jones, have now issued emotional appeals for information as they prepare to travel to Spain themselves.
LAST SEEN NEAR CHAPLIN’S BAR
Paul was reportedly last seen in the early hours of Sunday near the well-known Chaplin’s Bar in Benidorm.
The friends he had been holidaying with reportedly left him in the area before returning to the UK.
His family believes he could potentially be anywhere between Benidorm’s Old Town and the main tourist strip.
Paul was reportedly wearing glasses, beige chino shorts, a white T-shirt and flip-flops when he was last seen.
His wife said his phone had been lost, making it even harder for the family to establish contact with him.
He has since been reported missing to the authorities.
“WE ARE ALL VERY WORRIED”
Paul’s mother, Eileen, made a desperate appeal on social media.
She said her son had been expected home on Monday but never arrived.
“If you see him please ask him to ring home,” she urged, according to The Sun. “We are all very worried.”
Sara also appealed to people in Benidorm to keep an eye out for her husband.
She asked whether anyone might have seen him in a bar, club, along the beachfront or elsewhere in the resort.
The family is now preparing to travel to Spain to speak directly with local authorities and begin their own search.
A DISTINCTIVE CLUE
Friends and relatives have highlighted a particularly distinctive feature that could help people identify Paul.
Family friend Linzi Kate Pearson said Paul is “very recognisable” because part of one of his ears is missing.
She urged people in Benidorm to look carefully for anyone matching his description and to share the appeal.
Paul is described as a Bolton-based scaffolding worker and a devoted family man.
His loved ones are now hoping that even the smallest sighting could provide a breakthrough.
