‘TWISTED TWIN’ RELEASED AFTER 16 YEARS — SHE AND HER SISTER WERE JUST 16 WHEN THEIR MOTHER WAS KILLED

A shocking case that gripped Georgia more than a decade ago has resurfaced after one of the infamous “Twisted Twins” was released from prison.

Tasmiyah Whitehead is now free after serving 16 years behind bars for her role in the 2010 killing of her mother, Jarmecca “Nikki” Whitehead.

Tasmiyah and her twin sister, Jasmiyah, were only 16 years old when their mother was killed inside the family’s Rockdale County home.

Now, Tasmiyah, 33, has been released — while her twin remains incarcerated.

A FAMILY TRAGEDY THAT SHOCKED GEORGIA

The sisters had recently returned to live with their mother after previously being separated from her.

According to reports, the arrangement was supposed to last for two weeks.

But just over a week after they moved back in, a violent confrontation erupted after the girls woke up late for school.

The twins later told investigators that their mother had threatened them with a cooking pot.

During the struggle, Tasmiyah admitted hitting Nikki with the pot before taking a knife and stabbing her.

Jasmiyah also became involved in the confrontation.

The sisters ultimately confessed to repeatedly stabbing their mother.

POLICE INITIALLY THOUGHT THE TWINS WERE VICTIMS

After the incident, the sisters went to school as though nothing had happened.

When they returned home, police were called.

Investigators initially treated the teenagers as victims who had discovered their mother’s body.

But evidence eventually began pointing back toward the twins.

Investigators found injuries on the sisters that were consistent with a struggle, including bite marks that authorities said had been inflicted by their mother.

Four months later, both were arrested.

The twins initially pleaded not guilty to murder.

But in 2014, both accepted plea agreements.

The murder charges were reduced to voluntary manslaughter, along with additional charges.

Both sisters ultimately received 30-year sentences.

Tasmiyah’s sentence included time for voluntary manslaughter, possession of a knife during a crime and making false statements.

NOW ONE TWIN IS FREE

According to jail records reported by The New York Post and cited by The Sun, Tasmiyah was released from Pulaski State Prison on August 5, 2026.

She served approximately 16 years, including time spent in pre-trial detention.

Although she had reportedly become eligible for parole in 2017, she remained behind bars for years afterward.

Her release has now brought the decades-old case back into the spotlight.

HER SISTER REMAINS BEHIND BARS

Jasmiyah, who accepted the same plea deal, remains incarcerated.

She is currently expected to become eligible for parole in May 2028, according to reports.

The sisters’ grandmother had previously criticized the sentences, arguing that the punishment did not adequately reflect the loss of Nikki’s life.

Her anger became part of the lasting controversy surrounding the case.
