Woman Faces Bilateral Leg Amputation After Years of Severe Pain and Loss of Mobility

Megan says her health struggles began when she was around 14 years old, when her legs suddenly became locked in a straight position before gradually beginning to bend backward in an abnormal position.

The condition persisted for years and caused severe, debilitating pain. Over time, Megan lost the ability to walk and underwent prolonged treatment after being diagnosed with functional neurological disorder (FND).

Despite years of medical care, her condition continued to worsen. By 2026, Megan said both of her knees had suffered severe damage and had become fixed at an angle of approximately 45 degrees.

Seeking a solution, Megan consulted numerous surgeons in hopes of finding a way to preserve her legs and regain some mobility. However, according to Megan, she was eventually told that bilateral leg amputation was the only remaining option.

The prospect of losing both legs after years of living with pain and limited mobility has left Megan facing an extraordinarily difficult decision.

Her experience highlights the profound physical and emotional challenges that can accompany severe, long-term neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, particularly when conventional treatments fail to restore mobility.
