Sir Tom Jones says he never wanted to leave The Voice UK and claims ITV made the decision to remove him from the coaching panel — just days before the broadcaster unveiled a dramatic new line-up for the next series.

Sir Tom Jones has broken his silence after being dropped as a full-time coach on The Voice UK, insisting that leaving the show was never his decision.

The 86-year-old Welsh music legend revealed that ITV made the decision, saying he had only been informed recently despite the broadcaster having apparently made the call some time earlier.

His departure comes after more than a decade of appearances on the hit singing competition and has triggered an immediate reaction from fans who had come to regard him as one of the show’s defining figures.

Under the new format, Jones said there would simply no longer be a coaching chair available for him.

ITV CALLS IT A “REFRESH”

ITV has now officially unveiled the line-up for Series 15, confirming a major overhaul.

Jones will not return as a full-time coach.

Instead, the new coaching panel will feature will.i.am, Kelly Rowland, Cheryl and Aitch.

Cheryl and Aitch will make their debuts, while Kelly Rowland returns for her second series.

The broadcaster also confirmed that Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon will take over as hosts.

The next series is scheduled to air in 2027.

ITV thanked Jones for his years on the programme, praising the “countless incredible and unforgettable moments” he brought to the show and the singers who appeared alongside him.

BUT THE DOOR MAY NOT BE COMPLETELY CLOSED

There is one important twist.

Although Jones will no longer be a full-time coach, his relationship with the programme may not be completely over.

The Voice has said it continues to discuss his possible involvement in the upcoming series with Jones and his team.

That leaves open the possibility that viewers could still see the veteran performer in some capacity — although his familiar red chair will belong to someone else.

For fans who have watched him return to that chair year after year, that distinction may not make the shock any easier.
