MISSISSIPPI COUPLE WELCOMES SURPRISE BABY GIRL AFTER QUINTUPLETS
A Mississippi couple already famous for welcoming quintuplets has expanded their family once again following an unexpected pregnancy. Haylee and Shawn Ladner welcomed their new daughter, Ella Claire, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Born via a scheduled cesarean section, the baby girl weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces at birth. Following a brief stay in the neonatal intensive care unit to monitor rapid breathing, little Ella cleared all health checks and was discharged home to join her family.

The arrival of Ella came as a complete shock to the couple, who believed their family was already complete. In February 2023, after years of heartbreaking struggles with infertility and miscarriages, Haylee and Shawn welcomed quintuplets—four identical girls and one boy—conceived through fertility treatment. This latest pregnancy occurred naturally while Haylee was using birth control, and she did not discover she was expecting until well into her second trimester.

Although initially stunned by the surprising news, the Ladners quickly embraced the upcoming addition and prepared their home for a sixth child. Managing six very young children brings unique daily challenges, making strong support from extended family essential during Haylee’s post-surgery recovery. Despite the busy household and constant demands, Haylee and Shawn remain deeply grateful for their growing family. Their central hope is to raise all six of their children in a loving, healthy, and joyful environment.
