10-Year-Old Girl Dies After Hit-and-Run Crash in Miami-Dade
A 10-year-old girl has died and her older brother remains hospitalized after the siblings were struck by a vehicle in a devastating hit-and-run crash in Miami-Dade County.
Peyton and her older brother, Brent, were riding an e-bike near NW 117th Street and NW 7th Avenue at around 8:40 p.m. on September 9 when the crash occurred.
According to police, a silver or gray Nissan Versa, believed to be a 2009–2012 model, turned onto NW 117th Street and struck the two children.

The driver did not stop following the collision and fled the scene, leaving both siblings seriously injured.
Peyton and Brent were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. Despite efforts to save her, Peyton later succumbed to her injuries.
Her brother, Brent, suffered serious injuries and required surgery. He remains hospitalized as he continues to recover.
The case remained under investigation as authorities worked to identify the vehicle and locate the driver.
In the latest update on September 13, Miami-Dade police said investigators had located the vehicle suspected of being involved in the crash. The Nissan Versa was impounded as detectives continued examining the circumstances surrounding the collision.

No arrests had been announced as of the latest update.
Authorities continue to urge the driver to come forward and are asking anyone with information about the crash to assist investigators.
For Peyton’s family, the investigation now follows the heartbreaking loss of a young girl whose life was cut short in a crash that police say could have been avoided had the driver remained at the scene.
As Brent remains in the hospital, the family is also facing the difficult road ahead while hoping for his recovery.
