10-MONTH-OLD SCOTTIE CROWELL DIES AFTER BEING LEFT IN 115°F CAR — GRANDMOTHER’S DEVASTATING MISTAKE UNDER INVESTIGATION

A Kentucky family is grieving after 10-month-old Scottie Gwyn Crowell was found unresponsive inside a vehicle outside a medical facility where her grandmother worked.

According to police, Scottie’s grandmother, Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker, had picked her up that morning and was supposed to take her to daycare before going to work. Instead, investigators say she drove directly to work and inadvertently left the baby in the backseat.

TEMPERATURES INSIDE THE CAR REACHED 115°F

Scottie remained inside the vehicle from around 8 a.m.

Outdoor temperatures in Madisonville reached approximately 95°F, while a weather sensor reportedly recorded temperatures inside the vehicle as high as 115°F.

Hours later, around 4 p.m., Scottie’s father went to the daycare to pick up his daughter.

That was when the family discovered that Scottie had never been dropped off.

Her mother contacted Fazenbaker, who then rushed outside with coworkers to the vehicle.

But it was already too late.

Police and emergency personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but Scottie could not be saved.

A TRAGEDY THAT UNFOLDED IN HOURS

The discovery has left Scottie’s family and the local community devastated.

Authorities say the grandmother cooperated with investigators and underwent a blood test as part of the investigation. Police said they were not expecting the results to indicate substance involvement.

An autopsy has been completed, but officials said the final results could take several weeks.

No charges have been filed at this time.

Once investigators complete their work, the case is expected to be presented to a grand jury to determine whether charges are appropriate.

 INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL WORKING TO ESTABLISH THE FULL PICTURE

Madisonville Police and Kentucky Child Protective Services are investigating the circumstances surrounding Scottie’s death.

Authorities have not announced any conclusion regarding criminal responsibility.

For now, the central facts remain painfully simple: a baby was supposed to be taken to daycare, remained inside a vehicle for hours, and was ultimately found unresponsive in extreme heat.

 REMEMBERING SCOTTIE

Scottie was just 10 months old.

She is survived by her parents, Micah Crowell and Sydni Fazenbaker Crowell, according to her obituary.

Her death has once again highlighted how quickly temperatures inside parked vehicles can become dangerously high, even when the outside temperature may seem less extreme.

ONE MISSED ROUTINE. EIGHT HOURS. ONE FAMILY LEFT HEARTBROKEN.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet announced whether anyone will face charges.

For Scottie’s family, however, no investigation can change the devastating loss of a child who should have been safely at daycare that afternoon.
