ITV FINALLY BREAKS ITS SILENCE ON SIR TOM JONES — CALLING THE 86-YEAR-OLD LEGEND “IRREPLACEABLE” AS THE VOICE UK ENTERS A NEW ERA

After more than a decade on the show, Sir Tom Jones is leaving the famous red chair — and ITV has now revealed exactly who will take over in the dramatic Series 15 shake-up.

Sir Tom Jones may be leaving The Voice UK, but ITV has made one thing clear: the broadcaster does not consider the legendary singer replaceable.

Just days after Jones publicly said “I did not want to leave The Voice”, ITV issued its own statement thanking the 86-year-old star for the years he spent on the programme and the “countless incredible and unforgettable moments” he brought to the competition.

At the same time, ITV confirmed a completely revamped coaching and presenting line-up for the show’s 15th series.

“I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE”

Jones revealed that his departure was not his choice.

In a statement shared on social media, the Welsh music legend said he loved the programme and appreciated its audience.

He said ITV had made the decision and that he had only recently been informed.

According to Jones, the reason given to him involved “financial difficulty with insurance.”

He also said ITV subsequently described the move as a desire to “refresh” the show and explained that the new coaching line-up would leave no chair for him.

Jones said he had been offered a much-reduced role in which he would appear without being involved from the beginning of the competition.

He rejected that arrangement, saying he was not happy with the proposal.

ITV’S MESSAGE TO A LEGEND

ITV’s response struck a noticeably warmer tone.

The broadcaster thanked “the irreplaceable Sir Tom Jones” for his contribution to The Voice UK, praising the “countless incredible and unforgettable moments” he had given the show.

The wording came as ITV confirmed that the programme would move forward with a completely different coaching panel for Series 15.

Jones has been associated with The Voice UK since its launch in 2012, although he did not appear in Series 5.

His departure therefore marks the end of one of the show’s longest-running coaching eras.

THE NEW RED-CHAIR LINE-UP

For the next series, ITV has confirmed four coaches:

Cheryl
Aitch
Kelly Rowland
will.i.am

Cheryl and Aitch are the new additions, while Kelly Rowland returns for another series and will.i.am remains the show’s longest-serving original coach.

The changes represent a significant reset for the programme.

And while Cheryl is joining the panel following Jones’s departure, the decision itself was made by ITV as part of the wider restructuring. There is no indication that Cheryl was responsible for Jones leaving.

EMMA WILLIS IS ALSO OUT

The changes do not stop with the red chairs.

Long-time presenter Emma Willis is also leaving The Voice UK.

She will be replaced by Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon, who will share presenting duties for the new series.

Willis is set to take on presenting duties for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

That means viewers will be seeing an almost entirely different face of The Voice UK when Series 15 arrives.

A VERY DIFFERENT VOICE UK

The new series is scheduled for 2027, with filming already underway in Manchester.

For viewers who have watched Jones occupy one of the show’s famous red chairs for years, the change will be impossible to miss.

The singer’s exit also comes at a particularly emotional moment because Jones himself made clear that he still wanted to be part of the programme.

He did not announce a voluntary retirement from The Voice. Instead, he said the decision was made by ITV.

ITV, meanwhile, has framed the change as a refresh of the programme and has publicly emphasized the enormous contribution Jones made during his time on the show.

THE END OF AN ERA

There is no question that The Voice UK will look different without Sir Tom Jones.

For years, viewers watched the legendary singer turn his chair, coach performers and bring his unmistakable personality to the competition.

Now, the famous red chairs will feature a new combination of artists — Cheryl and Aitch joining returning stars Kelly Rowland and will.i.am.

And behind them will be two new presenters, Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon.

One thing, however, remains clear from ITV’s own statement:

Sir Tom Jones may no longer have a chair — but ITV itself says the impact he made on The Voice UK is “irreplaceable.”
