MISSING D.C. MOM’S EX HAD A VIOLENT PAST — COURT RECORDS REVEAL DISTURBING HISTORY AS SEARCH FOR ANTOINETTE FORBES CONTINUES

Antoinette Forbes, 53, has been missing for nearly two weeks — and newly reviewed court records are shedding light on the troubled history between her and the father of her 10-year-old son.

Forbes was last seen on September 4 in the 3200 block of Nebraska Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. Her family says her disappearance was completely out of character.

When a friend went to check on her home, Forbes was nowhere to be found. Her keys, wallet, phones, purse and dog were reportedly still inside, while her car remained outside.

HER EX WAS ARRESTED IN PENNSYLVANIA

On September 12, Russell Ashford, the father of Forbes’ son, was taken into custody in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

Authorities say he was being held on a Maryland probation-violation warrant and was awaiting extradition. Pennsylvania State Police did not file new charges against him in Pennsylvania.

Most importantly, authorities have not charged Ashford or publicly identified him as a suspect in Forbes’ disappearance.

But his arrest has drawn renewed attention to the couple’s history.

COURT RECORDS DETAIL A 2021 ASSAULT

According to court records reviewed by PEOPLE and WJLA, Ashford was convicted in 2021 of first-degree assault involving Forbes.

Prosecutors’ records describe a violent confrontation in which Forbes suffered multiple injuries, including fractures to her face, damage around her right eye, bruising and a concussion.

The records state that Forbes told investigators Ashford repeatedly struck her head before she lost consciousness. A neighbor also reported witnessing the assault.

Ashford ultimately received a 15-year sentence, with 14 years suspended, according to PEOPLE.

THE COUPLE HAD ALSO BEEN INVOLVED IN A CUSTODY BATTLE

Court documents show Forbes and Ashford had been involved in a lengthy dispute over their son.

Following the 2021 assault, an emergency custody order gave Forbes sole legal and physical custody and restricted Ashford’s contact.

That arrangement later changed. By 2024, Ashford had been granted unsupervised parenting time under specific conditions, but court filings indicate the two continued to have disagreements over custody exchanges and other rules.

Despite the disturbing history, investigators have not publicly connected Ashford to Forbes’ disappearance.

HER FAMILY IS STILL WAITING FOR ANSWERS

Forbes’ loved ones say she would never willingly abandon her son and the life she had built.

Her sister Aileen and longtime friends have continued appealing for information as authorities investigate.

“Eleven days is too long,” her family said in a recent appeal.

As of the latest reports, the search for Antoinette Forbes remains ongoing, while Ashford remains in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition proceedings.
