NOAH WOODS’ FATHER SHARES HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE AFTER THREE-YEAR-OLD FOUND IN POND

Rhys Woods said there were “no words” to describe the pain of losing his three-year-old son after Noah was found in a pond following a massive search involving police, emergency crews and around 1,300 members of the public.

The desperate search for three-year-old Noah Woods has ended in heartbreak after police confirmed that the child found in Decoy Pond in Brantham, Suffolk, was the missing boy.

Noah disappeared on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15, after becoming separated from a relative during a visit to a playground on Merriam Close.

More than 24 hours later, specialist dive teams recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond.

Suffolk Police formally identified the child as Noah on September 17.

Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious, although officers still had inquiries to complete before submitting a file to the coroner.

‘There are no words to describe the pain’

Following the identification, Noah’s father, Rhys Woods, shared a deeply emotional tribute to his son.

“There are no words to describe the pain of this loss, we are all absolutely heartbroken,” Woods wrote.

He described Noah as “the sweetest and most innocent little boy”, saying the three-year-old had “nothing but love to give.”

“We are going to miss him so very much,” his father wrote.

Woods also reflected on the extraordinary response to Noah’s disappearance, saying it appeared his son had “made an impact across the whole nation.”

“You have all taken Noah into your own hearts,” he wrote, thanking the people who had joined the search and supported the family.

“With all the overwhelming help, we were all just trying to bring him home to us safe and sound.”

A search that brought thousands together

Noah was reported missing at around 3 p.m. on September 15 after becoming separated from a relative near the Merriam Close playground.

Police said he ran down an alleyway beside the playground toward a new housing development and the area around Decoy Pond.

At the time, Noah was wearing a Bluey T-shirt, shorts and black sneakers.

Police also said Noah was non-verbal and had partial hearing loss. He was undergoing an assessment for autism, and officers warned that he might not respond if someone called his name.

The disappearance triggered an enormous search operation.

Specialist police teams were joined by HM Coastguard, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, the National Police Air Service, the Metropolitan Police Dive Team, Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue and ambulance specialists.

Around 1,300 members of the public also took part in the search, with people traveling from nearby communities and further afield to help.

Residents searched roads, gardens, fields and surrounding areas while emergency crews examined waterways and other locations.

Father made desperate plea before discovery

Before Noah was found, his father had publicly pleaded with volunteers and the wider community to continue searching.

“I cannot go another night knowing he’s out there alone,” Woods said during the search.

“Please don’t give up on him.”

At the time, the family was still hoping that Noah would be found alive.

The discovery at Decoy Pond the following day brought that hope to a devastating end.

Family thanks those who searched

In his later statement, Woods thanked emergency responders, volunteers and members of the public who had spent hours searching for his son.

He said the compassion shown during the search would never be forgotten by the family and had provided comfort during an incredibly painful period.

“The compassion shown by all of you will never be forgotten by us and brought us comfort and strength at the darkest time of our lives,” he wrote.

He ended the tribute with a message to Noah:

“Noah, you will be loved forever, you will never be forgotten and we miss you so so much.”

The statement was signed from “daddy and mummy and little brother.”

Community continues to mourn

Following the discovery, tributes began appearing at the playground where Noah was last seen.

Flowers, balloons, teddy bears and children’s toys were left by members of the community.

Several tributes featured Bluey, the children’s television character associated with the shirt Noah was wearing when he disappeared.

Local organizations also opened spaces for residents to remember the child and support one another.

The response reflected how deeply the disappearance had affected the village of Brantham.

Police Superintendent Tom Pearse said the family had received an extraordinary level of support but urged people to respect their privacy as they grieve.

Investigation continues

Although Noah’s death is not being treated as suspicious, Suffolk Police said the circumstances remain under investigation.

Officers are continuing to complete inquiries before submitting a file to the coroner.

For Noah’s family, however, the focus has shifted from the desperate search for their little boy to mourning the loss of a child they described as loving and innocent.

The massive search that brought together police officers, emergency crews and hundreds of strangers was ultimately unable to deliver the outcome everyone had hoped for.

But Noah’s father said one thing would remain unchanged: his son would never be forgotten.

“You will be loved forever.”
