LITTLE GUS LAMONT STILL MISSING NEARLY A YEAR LATER AS POLICE SEARCH FOR ANSWERS

SOUTH AUSTRALIA — Nearly a year after four-year-old Gus Lamont disappeared from his family’s remote property, his whereabouts remain unknown as investigators continue searching for answers.

Gus was last seen on September 27, 2025, at Oak Park Station, a remote sheep property about 275 kilometers northeast of Adelaide.

The little boy had reportedly been playing outside near his family home when his grandmother went to check on him and discovered that he was no longer there.

His family contacted emergency services, launching what became one of South Australia’s largest missing-child searches.

Police, State Emergency Service volunteers, defense personnel, specialist search teams, aircraft, police dogs and Indigenous trackers have all taken part in efforts to locate Gus.

Investigators have searched the property and surrounding areas repeatedly, including waterways, mine shafts, buildings and nearby conservation land.

A dam near the area where Gus was last seen was also drained and examined.

Despite extensive operations, investigators have not found Gus or evidence establishing exactly what happened to him.

Police initially believed Gus may have wandered away from the property.

However, after repeated searches failed to establish a clear direction of travel, investigators later classified the disappearance as a major crime.

In February 2026, South Australia Police said a person living at Oak Park Station had become a suspect after investigators identified what they described as inconsistencies and discrepancies involving timelines and accounts provided during the investigation.

Police emphasized that Gus’s parents were not suspects.

Investigators seized a vehicle, a motorcycle and electronic devices, which were subjected to forensic examination.

No arrest had been made in connection with Gus’s disappearance at the time of the latest reports.

STILL NO ANSWERS

By August 2026, nearly 11 months had passed since Gus vanished.

Police said eleven major searches had been conducted around the property, but investigators still had no evidence establishing what happened to the boy.

One small footprint found roughly 500 meters from the family home had initially attracted attention, but investigators later said it did not provide a breakthrough.

Authorities have continued to investigate information provided by Gus’s family and members of the public.

HIS FAMILY CONTINUES TO WAIT

Gus’s disappearance has left his family facing months of uncertainty.

His parents have continued appealing for anyone who may know something about his disappearance to come forward.

In February, Gus’s mother made an emotional plea for information, asking anyone who knew what happened to her son to speak with investigators.

Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said authorities understood the enormous public interest surrounding the case and remained committed to finding answers.

For Gus’s family, however, the central question remains painfully simple:

Where is little Gus Lamont?

The investigation remains ongoing.
