JASON LANDRY REMAINS FOUND SIX YEARS AFTER TEXAS STUDENT VANISHED ON DRIVE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

The remains of a Texas college student who disappeared nearly six years ago after a car crash have been identified, bringing a long-awaited development to a mystery that has haunted his family since Christmas 2020.

Jason Landry was 21 when he disappeared on December 13, 2020, while driving from Texas State University in San Marcos toward his family’s home in Missouri City for the holidays.

His abandoned Nissan Altima was later discovered on a rural road near Luling in Caldwell County.

For nearly six years, investigators and volunteers searched for answers.

Now, DNA testing has confirmed that human remains discovered earlier this month belonged to Jason.

REMAINS DISCOVERED NEAR THE ORIGINAL CRASH SITE

The remains were discovered on September 8, 2026, by a local resident in Caldwell County, approximately 50 miles from Austin.

According to reports, the resident was cutting grass when he noticed what appeared to be an unusual object. Upon closer inspection, he discovered what appeared to be a human skull.

The remains were located approximately 10 minutes from the area where Jason’s wrecked vehicle had originally been found.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office later confirmed through DNA testing that the remains belonged to Jason Landry.

Authorities said the location was outside the areas covered by previous searches.

THE MYSTERY THAT BEGAN IN DECEMBER 2020

Jason disappeared while making the drive home for Christmas.

When his Nissan was discovered after the crash, investigators found his phone and wallet inside the vehicle, along with clothing scattered around the crash site.

Investigators believed Jason may have survived the initial crash and left the vehicle.

Search teams examined areas around the crash site and surrounding countryside, but his remains were not located.

Authorities now say the discovery occurred outside the area covered by previous searches, helping explain why such an extensive search effort had failed to find him earlier.

The discovery has finally answered one of the family’s biggest questions — where Jason was.

But many questions remain.

CAUSE OF DEATH HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED

Although Jason’s identity has now been confirmed, authorities have not announced a definitive cause or manner of death.

There has also been no indication from investigators that foul play was involved.
