Ryker Lee Found Safe After Disappearance in Arizona

A 15-year-old Arizona boy who had been missing for several days has been found safe, bringing an end to a search that raised serious concerns about his welfare and the conditions in which he had been living.

Ryker Lee was reported missing after he was last seen around 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, near South Silver Springs Road in Three Points, an area roughly 25 miles west-southwest of downtown Tucson.

Authorities launched a search for the teenager as investigators were simultaneously looking into troubling circumstances at his home.

During the investigation, authorities reportedly discovered evidence of severe neglect involving Ryker and his siblings. Investigators alleged that Ryker had been confined for extended periods inside a small room in an RV.

According to the allegations, the room did not have air conditioning or running water and was not equipped with a restroom.

The investigation also raised concerns about the overall condition of the residence. Ryker’s three siblings were removed from the home and placed in protective custody while authorities continued their investigation.

Ryker’s mother, 39-year-old Danielle Lee-Sharp, and his stepfather, 43-year-old Michael Menzie, were arrested and face child-abuse-related charges in connection with the investigation.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and the case remains ongoing.

Ryker’s disappearance added another layer of urgency to the investigation because the teenager has Type 1 diabetes and requires ongoing medical care.

Authorities had urged the public to remain alert and emphasized that Ryker was not considered to be in trouble. The primary concern was locating him and ensuring his safety.

Investigators also obtained video footage reportedly showing Ryker walking alone in the area around the time of his disappearance.

Ryker was described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He had reportedly been wearing a green shirt and floral-print pants when he was last seen.

Child welfare officials are expected to determine the appropriate arrangements for Ryker, while his siblings remain in protective custody.

The investigation into the conditions the children allegedly experienced will also continue, along with the criminal case against the adults.
