“SHE WAS THE MOST AMAZING WOMAN…” — MUM-OF-TWO DANIELLE O’KEANE DIES AFTER WESTLIFE CONCERT CRASH 💔

What was supposed to be a joyful night out with friends ended in unimaginable heartbreak for a young mother from Newry.

Danielle O’Keane, 37, has died after suffering catastrophic brain injuries in a road crash in Dublin following a Westlife concert.

Her devastated family confirmed that Danielle lost her fight for life on October 1, days after the accident.

Danielle had travelled from Newry to Dublin with friends on September 26 to watch Westlife perform at the 3Arena.

It was described by her family as a rare opportunity for Danielle to go out, enjoy herself and spend time with friends.

After the concert, she and two other women got into a motorised rickshaw to travel toward Dublin city centre, where Danielle was due to meet her husband, Dave.

But within moments, everything changed.

The rickshaw reportedly clipped a divider between a cycle lane and the main road before overturning.

Danielle fell from the vehicle and was struck by a passing car.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, where she had to be resuscitated before being taken to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

Doctors later determined that she had suffered a devastating brain injury. She spent days in intensive care on a ventilator as her loved ones waited and hoped for a miracle.

HER FAMILY NEVER LEFT HER SIDE

Danielle’s sister-in-law Ashling spoke publicly about the family’s anguish during those difficult days.

The family had been told that Danielle’s injuries were so severe that they might have to say goodbye.

Friends, relatives and members of the wider community rallied around the family, with a fundraiser quickly attracting enormous support.

Westlife also reportedly contacted the family to offer their support following the tragedy.

A MOTHER OF TWO

Away from the tragedy, Danielle was remembered first and foremost as a devoted wife and mother.

She was the much-loved wife of Dave and mother of Caolán and Cillian.

Her family also described her as a beloved daughter and sister.

Friends paid emotional tribute after news of her death, remembering her as someone with a warm personality and a heart of gold.

“She was the most amazing woman,” one friend wrote.

A FAMILY HOLIDAY THAT NEVER HAPPENED

The heartbreak has been made even more painful by what was supposed to come next.

Danielle had been due to travel with her husband and two young sons to Mallorca, where the family had planned to enjoy their first holiday together.

Instead, her family is now preparing to say goodbye.

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Officers have appealed to anyone who was travelling around North Wall Quay between approximately 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on September 26 and may have dashcam footage to come forward.

For Danielle’s family, however, the investigation is only one part of an unbearable loss.

A night that began with music, friendship and excitement ended with a mother losing her life — leaving behind a husband, two young sons and a family struggling to understand how everything changed so quickly.

Danielle’s loved ones now want her remembered not for the accident, but for the woman, wife, mother and friend she was. 🤍
