NOAH WOODS CASE: NEW NHS INVESTIGATION ADDS ANOTHER PAINFUL CHAPTER FOR FAMILY

A NEW INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED AFTER 10 NHS STAFF MEMBERS WERE REMOVED FROM DUTY OVER CONCERNS ABOUT ACCESS TO NOAH WOODS’ MEDICAL RECORDS.

For Noah Woods’ family, the heartbreaking story of their three-year-old son has taken another unexpected turn.

Weeks after Noah disappeared from a playground in Brantham, Suffolk, before his body was found in nearby Decoy Pond, an NHS trust has apologized to his family over concerns that his medical records were accessed without proper authorization.

Ten employees have been suspended or removed from active duty while the investigation continues. The case has also been reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Noah disappeared on September 15 after visiting an under-fives play area in Brantham with a relative.

An inquest later heard that CCTV captured Noah inside the playground before he left through a gap in the fence.

He then entered a nearby memorial garden and went through an open gate before heading in the direction of Decoy Pond.

A relative tried to follow him but lost sight of him after around 200 metres.

Police were called and a huge search operation began.

The search for Noah brought together around 1,300 members of the public, alongside police officers, specialist search teams, dogs and other emergency services.

The entire community was hoping for the same outcome — that the little boy would be found safe.

But on September 16, Metropolitan Police divers recovered Noah’s body from Decoy Pond.

Police said the discovery was not being treated as suspicious, although the circumstances remained unexplained and were referred to the coroner.

HIS FAMILY REMEMBERED A HAPPY LITTLE BOY

After the inquest hearing, Noah’s family released a deeply emotional tribute.

They described him as a “happy, cheeky, playful” three-year-old who loved to laugh and giggle.

They said he brought joy wherever he went and was at the centre of a loving family that included his parents and baby brother.

His father, Rhys Woods, had also described Noah as the sweetest and most innocent little boy, saying he had nothing but love to give.

Those memories have become an important part of how the family wants their son to be remembered.

NOW, A SEPARATE NHS INVESTIGATION

The latest development concerns Noah’s medical records.

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust said it became aware of concerns that Noah’s records may have been viewed inappropriately.

The trust immediately launched an internal investigation and took steps to secure the records and prevent further access that was not for a legitimate clinical reason.

Ten employees have been removed from active duty or suspended while the investigation takes place.

The trust has also reported the matter to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

THE TRUST APOLOGIZED TO NOAH’S FAMILY

Dr Martin Mansfield, the trust’s deputy chief medical officer, apologized to Noah’s family.

The trust said any unauthorized access to patient information was unacceptable and acknowledged that the incident had caused additional distress during an already devastating period.

Officials said the investigation would continue and disciplinary action could follow depending on what the findings establish.

Importantly, the investigation has not established publicly that every one of the 10 employees accessed Noah’s records improperly. Their status is part of the ongoing inquiry.

There is also no information indicating that the alleged data access had any connection to Noah’s disappearance or death.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The NHS investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities are examining how Noah’s medical records were accessed, who accessed them and whether any disciplinary action is required.

Meanwhile, the inquest into Noah’s death has been opened and adjourned, with further proceedings expected at a later date. The exact cause of death remains a matter for the coroner and relevant investigations.

A FAMILY STILL WAITING FOR ANSWERS

For Noah’s parents and loved ones, the latest development comes after weeks of grief.

They first endured the desperate search for their little boy.

Then came the devastating discovery at Decoy Pond.

Now, while they continue to mourn Noah, another investigation has emerged surrounding the handling of his private medical information.

Through all of it, the family has continued to emphasize the little boy behind the headlines — a playful child who loved to laugh, loved his family and brought happiness wherever he went.

Noah was only three years old.

And for those who loved him, his memory is much bigger than the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding his final days.
