SHE WENT TO THE PARK — BUT NEVER CAME HOME: 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL FOUND DEAD HOURS AFTER BEING REPORTED MISSING AS POLICE SAY HER DEATH REMAINS “UNEXPLAINED”

SHE WENT TO THE PARK — BUT NEVER CAME HOME
11-year-old Miya Deamer-Jones was reported missing late at night before her body was found in a park near a cricket ground in Worcestershire. Now, a close-knit community is grieving as police search for answers.
An ordinary evening in a quiet English village ended in unimaginable heartbreak.
Miya Deamer-Jones, 11, was reported missing at around 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, after she failed to return home.
Hours later, her body was discovered in a park near the cricket ground in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire.
Her death is currently being treated as “unexplained” by West Mercia Police as detectives work to establish exactly what happened.
A SEARCH THAT ENDED IN TRAGEDY
Miya was believed to have been playing with a friend earlier that day.
When she did not return home, her family began searching the village before police were called.
Officers launched an investigation, but the search ended with the devastating discovery of the young girl’s body in the park near the cricket ground.
Her family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
A VILLAGE IN SHOCK
Elmley Castle is a small, close-knit community where residents say people know one another and children regularly play in the area.
The news has left neighbours and friends struggling to understand how such a tragedy could happen.
Flowers, including sunflowers, have been left near the scene in memory of Miya. A school friend also left a heartbreaking message expressing how deeply she would be missed.
Miya was a student at Bredon Hill Academy in nearby Ashton-under-Hill.
Reports have also said that she had lost her father to cancer around three years ago.
🚔 POLICE ARE STILL SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS
West Mercia Police have increased their presence in Elmley Castle while enquiries continue.
Chief Inspector Daniel Pilkington said officers were working to understand the circumstances surrounding Miya’s death and urged people not to speculate about what may have happened.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are appealing for anyone who may have information that could assist them.
At this stage, authorities have not publicly established how Miya died.
REMEMBERING MIYA
Behind the police cordon and the headlines is an 11-year-old girl who had a family, friends and a life that should have stretched far into the future.
Now, instead of hearing children playing in the village, residents are leaving flowers and messages in her memory.
Her family is facing a loss that words cannot begin to describe.
And while detectives continue searching for answers, one thing is already clear:
Miya Deamer-Jones will not simply be remembered as the little girl at the centre of an investigation. She was a daughter, a sister, a friend — and a child whose life mattered.
