“TOM JONES IS BACK IN THE SPOTLIGHT — BUT FANS STILL WANT ANSWERS FROM ITV”

As Paloma Faith joins Sir Tom Jones during the latest Battle Rounds of The Voice UK, the music legend remains at the centre of a debate over his departure from the coaching panel.

Sir Tom Jones is once again making headlines as The Voice UK moves through its Battle Rounds. But for many longtime viewers, the biggest talking point is still the 86-year-old singer’s confirmed exit from the show’s full-time coaching line-up.

PALOMA FAITH JOINS TOM JONES

Recent coverage reports that Paloma Faith has returned to the programme to support Tom during the Battle Rounds, giving viewers another chance to see the veteran coach in action.

The appearance comes during a season already marked by major changes to the show’s format and future line-up.

In September, Tom said ITV had made the decision not to retain him as a full-time coach. He explained that the reason given to him involved financial difficulties with insurance, adding that he had been offered a much-reduced role that would not involve coaching contestants from the beginning.

ITV thanked him for his contribution and described him as “irreplaceable”, while saying discussions about possible future involvement were continuing.

The announcement prompted a petition calling for Tom’s reinstatement, backed publicly by fellow coach will.i.am. Some viewers have also criticised changes to the Battle Rounds, arguing that the revised format lacks the atmosphere of earlier seasons.

Meanwhile, The Sun reported that the programme drew fewer than 1.5 million viewers for an episode broadcast in early October, describing the figure as a record low. The report does not establish that Tom’s departure alone caused the audience decline.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

ITV has announced that the fifteenth series, expected in 2027, will feature Cheryl and Aitch alongside returning coaches Kelly Rowland and will.i.am. Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon will take over presenting duties. Tom’s future involvement beyond his current appearances has not been confirmed.

For now, Tom remains part of the conversation surrounding the show, even as ITV prepares for a new chapter.

Should ITV reconsider its decision and give Sir Tom Jones a full-time coaching role again?
