PLEASE HELP US FIND HIM: FEARS GROW FOR MISSING SCOTS FARMER TOM ALLAN, 63, AS SEARCH CONTINUES
His family has spent more than a week waiting for answers after Tom disappeared from a farm in South Lanarkshire. Police are urging anyone who may have seen him to come forward.
A Scottish family is facing an agonising wait as the search continues for missing farmer Tom Allan, who disappeared from South Lanarkshire more than a week ago.
The 63-year-old was last seen by his family at around 8:15am on Friday, October 23, in the Westmains Farm area near Stonehouse.
He was reported missing later that evening, prompting an extensive search involving specialist police teams and emergency services.
Despite days of searching, Tom’s whereabouts remain unknown, and officers have renewed their appeal for information.
A SEARCH INVOLVING SPECIALIST TEAMS
Police Scotland has been carrying out extensive searches across farmland and the surrounding countryside.
The operation has involved the police helicopter, specialist dive and marine units, police dogs, mountain rescue teams and partner agencies.
Officers have also urged local residents to check their gardens, sheds, garages and outbuildings in case Tom sought shelter.
Inspector Kenny MacRobert said:
“Tom has now been missing for a week, and we are very concerned for his welfare.”
He appealed to anyone who had been walking or travelling through the area to think carefully about whether they might have seen Tom.
Motorists have also been asked to review dashcam footage recorded around the time of his disappearance, as even a seemingly insignificant detail could help investigators.
HIS DAUGHTER SHARES WHAT HE WAS WEARING
As the search continues, Tom’s daughter Gayle has shared a photograph showing her father leaving home on the morning he disappeared.
She described his clothing as a white cap with a dark brim, a navy blue boiler suit, green wellington boots and a green waterproof jacket.
He was also wearing a red-collared jacket underneath the boiler suit.
His niece Katy has also appealed for people to continue sharing the missing-person appeal.
After a week without news, her message was simple: the family needs him home.
QUESTIONS SURROUNDING THE STORM
Tom disappeared shortly before Storm Boelo brought severe weather to parts of Scotland.
The storm brought powerful winds and heavy rain, adding to concerns as the search continued across the surrounding countryside.
However, police have not established any connection between the weather and Tom’s disappearance. His movements after the last confirmed sighting remain unknown.
Investigators have not announced any explanation for what happened.
POLICE URGE THE PUBLIC TO HELP
Tom is described as white, approximately 6ft 1in tall, with grey hair.
He was last seen wearing blue overalls and a white cap and may also have been wearing a green jacket.
Anyone who believes they may have seen Tom, or has information that could assist the investigation, is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 2759 of October 23.
For his family, every passing day without answers brings further uncertainty.
They are hoping that someone who was in the area that morning may remember seeing something that could help police establish where Tom went.
If you live nearby, have travelled through Stonehouse, or have relevant dashcam footage, please take a moment to check.
One overlooked detail could make a difference.
