“OUR FATHER, PROTECT US”: PILOT JEFF GREGORY REMEMBERED AFTER FINAL PRAYER WAS HEARD BEFORE FATAL FLORIDA PLANE CRASH

Captain Jeff Gregory, 55, was among nine people killed when a Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida. As recordings of the aircraft’s final radio communications emerge, a male voice apparently reciting the Lord’s Prayer has brought renewed attention to the pilot’s deep Christian faith and the family he leaves behind.

In the final moments before a private jet plunged into a Florida neighborhood, a deeply emotional sound was heard over the aircraft’s radio: a male voice apparently reciting the Lord’s Prayer.

The words, spoken amid frantic communications with air traffic control, have taken on particular significance following the identification of Captain Jeff Gregory, a 55-year-old Pennsylvania pilot who was among the nine people killed in the November 1 crash.

Gregory was remembered by those who knew him as a devoted husband, father of three and lifelong Christian whose passion for aviation began when he was young.

Although the male voice heard in the recording has not been conclusively identified, the apparent prayer has resonated with people learning more about Gregory’s life and faith.

Gregory, originally from Pennsylvania, was the captain of the Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida.

He was married to Cheryl and was the father of three children. Friends described him as a man whose family, Christian faith and love of flying were central to his life.

A longtime friend and former neighbor recalled growing up alongside Gregory. Their parents worked at a chapel, and the two boys attended the same small Christian school.

According to the friend’s recollections, Gregory’s interest in aviation developed early. During the 1990s, he began his pilot training, turning a childhood ambition into a professional career.

He went on to spend decades in aviation, building the experience and commitment that defined much of his adult life.

East Coast Jets, a charter company where Gregory had previously worked, confirmed that he was among those lost in the tragedy and expressed condolences to his loved ones.

THE FINAL RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

The Learjet 60 departed Austin, Texas, on November 1, bound for North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

There were nine people aboard: two crew members and seven passengers.

In the minutes before the crash, radio communications indicated that the crew was dealing with increasingly difficult conditions. The aircraft’s co-pilot, 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, reported icing and turbulence and communicated with air traffic control as the situation deteriorated.

The crew then declared an emergency as the aircraft began losing altitude rapidly.

Audio reviewed by PEOPLE captured the increasingly desperate final communications. Amid the warnings and urgent exchanges, a male voice could apparently be heard reciting the Lord’s Prayer.

The recording has since drawn widespread attention. However, investigators have not publicly established the identity of the person speaking those words.

The cause of the crash also remains under investigation. Federal investigators are examining the aircraft, weather conditions and the crew’s final actions.

NINE LIVES LOST IN THE FLORIDA CRASH

All nine people aboard the Learjet 60 died in the November 1 crash near Greenacres in Palm Beach County.

The seven passengers were identified by their families as:

  • Adam Robinson – a technology entrepreneur
  • Helen Sharp – Adam’s wife
  • Emma Robinson – their 4-year-old daughter
  • Charlie Robinson – their 2-year-old son
  • Rachael Reed
  • Charmi Fehr
  • Anita Maria Cetina – the children’s caregiver

The two crew members were:

  • Jeff Gregory, 55 – the captain
  • Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20 – the co-pilot

In a joint statement, the families described Adam and Helen as devoted parents and their two young children as the light of their lives.

Anita Maria Cetina was remembered for caring for Emma and Charlie with tenderness and devotion. Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr were also remembered for their love of adventure and the people closest to them.

The families expressed gratitude to first responders and the local community while asking for privacy as they mourn.

A PRAYER THAT HAS TOUCHED MANY HEARTS

For Gregory’s loved ones, the loss is immeasurable. He leaves behind his wife, three children, relatives and friends who remember him not simply as a pilot, but as a husband, father and man of faith.

The recording of the final moments has added another emotional dimension to the tragedy. Yet the identity of the voice heard praying remains unconfirmed, and the investigation has not established exactly what happened inside the cockpit during those final seconds.

As investigators work to determine why the aircraft went down, families are left grieving nine lives lost in a matter of minutes.

For those remembering Jeff Gregory, the reported prayer has become a poignant reminder of the faith that friends say shaped his life.

May the nine victims rest in peace, and may their families find strength and comfort in the days ahead.
