A peaceful Norfolk village has been left devastated after a beloved GP and mother of three was found dead at her family home while children were reportedly staying overnight for a sleepover.

Dr Hannah Cain, 45, who was professionally known as Dr Hannah Terry, was discovered at her property in Fern Hill, Dersingham, just over a mile from the Royal Family’s Sandringham Estate.

Her husband, Mark Cain, 45, has since been charged with her murder.

The case has shocked the local community, particularly because of Hannah’s reputation as a respected doctor and mother.

Police and emergency services were called to the family home at around 2.20am on Sunday, October 4, after the ambulance service alerted police.

Hannah was found at the property and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Norfolk Police later confirmed that a woman had been found dead at the Fern Hill address and that a man in his 40s had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

After further questioning, Mark Cain was formally charged with murder on Tuesday, October 6.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 7.

A Home Office post-mortem examination was carried out on October 5, but police said the cause of Hannah’s death remains pending further investigation.

One of the most heartbreaking details surrounding the case is that Hannah was reportedly hosting a sleepover for children at the family home that night.

According to reports, children who had been staying at the property were taken away and reunited with their families as police established a cordon around the house.

Their identities and circumstances have not been publicly disclosed.

The incident has left parents and residents in the area deeply shaken, with the normally quiet village suddenly surrounded by police and forensic officers.

A DOCTOR WHO CARED FOR HER COMMUNITY

Hannah was a GP at Grimston Medical Centre near King’s Lynn and was also involved in a private cosmetic-treatment business.

She had worked as a doctor for more than 15 years and had been a GP for around eight years, according to reports.

The medical centre was temporarily closed following her death, with a notice saying the practice was facing “extremely difficult circumstances” affecting its team.

The Sun has also reported that Hannah was part of a pool of doctors available to members of the Royal Family and is believed to have treated senior royals, including Queen Camilla.

Those claims have been reported by The Sun and other outlets, while police have not publicly confirmed details of any treatment provided to members of the Royal Family.

 TRIBUTES GROW AS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Flowers have been left for Hannah as friends, patients, colleagues and neighbours struggle to understand what happened.

She was remembered as a much-loved doctor and a devoted mother of three.

Her family are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for privacy while the investigation continues.

Norfolk Police said detectives remain focused on establishing the exact circumstances surrounding her death.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that Mark Cain has been charged following the police investigation, but stressed that the charge is not a finding of guilt and that he has the right to a fair trial.

For now, a family is mourning a mother and doctor who was described as deeply valued by those around her — while a quiet community waits for answers about what happened inside a home that had been filled with children just hours earlier.
