HAYDEN PANETTIERE DIES AT 36 — “AN INCREDIBLE LIGHT”
Actress Hayden Panettiere, beloved for her roles in Heroes, Nashville, Remember the Titans and the Scream franchise, has died at the age of 36.
Her representative confirmed her death in a statement to PEOPLE, describing Hayden as “an incredible light and a force of nature” who brought love and joy to those around her and to millions of fans.
A CAREER THAT BEGAN AS A CHILD
Panettiere began acting in the 1990s, appearing in television productions before gaining wider recognition in films including Remember the Titans and voicing Princess Dot in Pixar’s A Bug’s Life.
But it was her 2006 role as Claire Bennet in Heroes that made her an international star.
She later became equally recognizable as Juliette Barnes in Nashville, a role that earned her two Golden Globe nominations.
She also appeared in the Scream franchise, including Scream 4 and Scream VI.
HER DEATH COMES AT JUST 36
Panettiere died on August 16, 2026, according to her family and representative.

That makes speculation about what happened especially important to avoid.
SHE LEAVES BEHIND HER DAUGHTER
Panettiere was the mother of Kaya, her daughter with former professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
Panettiere had spoken publicly about motherhood and the difficult decision to have Kaya primarily live with her father while she worked through serious personal struggles. She continued to describe her daughter as an important part of her life.
A LIFE OF EXTRAORDINARY HIGHS AND LOWS
Beyond her acting career, Panettiere became increasingly open about some of the difficult experiences she faced away from the screen.
In her 2026 memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, she discussed motherhood, postpartum depression, addiction and the challenges she faced while trying to rebuild her life.
Her willingness to speak publicly about those experiences gave another dimension to her legacy.
