Brian Austin Green lost ability to read, talk and walk during relationship with Megan Fox

Over a decade ago, when Brian Austin Green was married to Megan Fox, he experienced ‘stroke-like symptoms’.
And to this day, the Beverly Hills, 90210 actor says his mystery ‘neurological thing’ was ‘never completely diagnosed’.
Having spoken about his health struggles previously, Green described the experience that left unable to ‘read, talk and walk’ to psychotherapist Kara Mayer Robinson on the latest episode of the
Really
Famous podcast.

When this mysterious neurological issue occurred, the now 53-year-old was a few years into his marriage to Fox, who he met on the set of Hope & Faith.
In 2014, the couple’s car was hit by a drunk driver but he claimed during a 2023 appearance on the podcast Sex, Likes and Spray Tans that his neurological symptoms came from ‘dietary’ causes.

During this recent Really Famous podcast appearance, Green said he was ’39,40’ years old (so around 2012 or 2013) when he had this experience.
He explained: “I had internal inflammation, so from diet, and then, they think, just emotional stress, not handling things
well
.”
With ‘about four and a half years’ of recovery, the Anger Management actor had to ‘learn how to walk again, to talk again’.
Green continued: “I couldn’t read. I couldn’t write. I couldn’t — who I was, essentially, was no more. My brain and my body completely disconnected.”
Eventually, he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis as well as vertigo.
The NHS explains that ulcerative colitis is a condition where parts of your large bowel and rectum become inflamed. While a cause is not known, it is an inflammatory bowel disease and thought to be an autoimmune disease.
Rather than a condition, vertigo is more of a symptom and makes you feel like you or everything around you is spinning.
Green previously said that the ‘neurological things’ started happening after the vertigo.

He told GMA: “I couldn’t walk. I shuffled like I was 90. I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t read. I couldn’t write.
“I wanted to lock myself up in the house and not be seen.”
Green explained he was suffering ‘stroke-like symptoms’ for years that had him slurring his words, struggling with his memory and experiencing brain fog.
He said on Really Famous that the cause of his neurological symptoms was ‘never completely diagnosed’.
While he did recover, he has previously urged others to ‘see multiple people’ when facing health issues and ‘get opinions from a few different places’.
