The father of two-year-old Isabelle Welsh says his initial sense of justice after her killers were convicted quickly turned into anger.

Joshua Welsh is now calling for whole-life orders for Isabelle’s mother, Alexandra Walker, and her boyfriend, Harrison Simpson, arguing that the sentences handed down after the devastating case do not go far enough.

Walker and Simpson were both sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of Isabelle’s murder.

Simpson received a minimum term of 27 years and 231 days, while Walker received a minimum term of 21 years and 48 days.

For Joshua, however, those numbers are difficult to accept.

His daughter was only two years old and will never have the opportunity to grow up, while her killers could eventually leave prison.

That contrast has left him demanding that both offenders remain behind bars for the rest of their lives.

A TRAGEDY THAT FOLLOWED WEEKS OF ABUSE

The court heard that Isabelle had suffered extensive injuries in the weeks before her death.

She had 21 broken bones, as well as other serious injuries, before suffering an unsurvivable head injury in September 2025.

Simpson was convicted of murder, child cruelty and sexually assaulting Isabelle.

Walker was convicted of murder and child cruelty.

The judge described Isabelle’s final ordeal as a “sadistic” campaign of violence.

HER FATHER SAYS THERE WERE MISSED OPPORTUNITIES

Joshua has also raised serious questions about the authorities’ handling of an earlier arrest warrant involving Simpson.

According to his account, police had been unable to locate Simpson despite an outstanding warrant that remained active for around 18 months.

For Joshua, the revelation has created an agonizing question:

Could Isabelle have been protected if different decisions had been made earlier?

He now wants her case to become a warning about the importance of protecting vulnerable children and acting quickly when concerns arise.

“I NEED TO BE HER VOICE”

Joshua says he wants people to remember Isabelle not only for the horrific circumstances surrounding her final days, but for the little girl she was.

He remembers her as bubbly, loving and full of smiles.

Now, he says he intends to keep speaking about her story because she can no longer speak for herself.

The campaign for tougher sentences is therefore about more than punishment for Joshua.

It is also about making sure Isabelle’s name is not forgotten.

She was only two years old.

Her father says he will continue fighting for what he believes is justice for his little girl — and for changes that could help protect other children in the future.
