8-Months-Pregnant Chicago Woman Sentenced to Probation After Boyfriend Dies Following Stabbing

Keshia Golden, a 37-year-old woman from Chicago, has avoided jail time after pleading guilty to a lesser charge in the 2022 death of her boyfriend following an altercation at their home.

The incident occurred on October 22, 2022, shortly after the couple’s baby shower. Golden was approximately eight months pregnant at the time.

According to Golden’s attorney, her boyfriend, Calvin Sidney, assaulted her during the confrontation and slammed her head against a kitchen countertop. The attorney said Golden then grabbed a knife and stabbed Sidney once in the leg.

The wound severed Sidney’s femoral artery, and he later died at a hospital.

Golden was initially charged with first-degree murder in connection with Sidney’s death. However, nearly four years later, on August 24, 2026, she pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of involuntary manslaughter.

Under the sentence, Golden was given two years of probation and community service, with no jail time.

The case has drawn attention because of the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and Golden’s pregnancy at the time. Her attorney’s account characterized the stabbing as an act that followed an alleged assault, while the criminal case initially involved a much more serious murder charge.

Golden’s guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter and the resulting sentence bring the long-running criminal proceedings to a close, with her punishment focused on probation and community service rather than incarceration.
