NEWBORN BABY FOUND DEAD ON TOP OF A WASHING MACHINE — THE HORRIFYING SHEFFIELD CASE THAT HAS SHOCKED THE UK

A newborn baby girl had only just entered the world.

Within hours, she was dead.

And now a Sheffield courtroom has heard deeply disturbing details about what prosecutors say happened to Baby S.

The infant was found inside an outhouse in the Wincobank area of Sheffield after police were called to a property on August 30 over concerns about the safety of a baby.

What officers discovered was horrifying.

33 WOUNDS. 15 SEPARATE STABBINGS.

According to evidence presented in court, Baby S suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings.

The court heard that the injuries were to her face and torso, including the front and back of her body.

A doctor concluded that she was alive when the attack occurred.

Her body was later found wrapped in a towel and placed inside a blue bag on top of a washing machine in an outbuilding.

A potential weapon has since been recovered and is being examined, while investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage. 

HER MOTHER IS AMONG THOSE CHARGED

Four adults have been charged with murder:

Andrea Skopova, 20 — identified in court as Baby S’s mother
Peter Horvath Jr, 19
Peter Horvath Sr, 38
Nina Horvathova, 37

All four are also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice, including allegations that steps were taken to conceal the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.

A 15-year-old girl has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice. She cannot legally be named because of her age. 

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder remain on bail.

THE BABY HAD BEEN BORN JUST HOURS EARLIER

The case becomes even more disturbing because of how little time Baby S had been alive.

The court heard that she was born in the early hours of August 30 at a property in Sheffield.

Skopova had reportedly given birth at 37 weeks and later attended hospital.

The baby’s father is currently unknown and was not believed to be Peter Horvath Jr, according to the prosecution. 

THE CASE IS NOW HEADING TO TRIAL

All five defendants have been remanded in custody.

The four adults are due to stand trial beginning April 12, 2027, with proceedings expected to last six to seven weeks.

The investigation remains ongoing.

South Yorkshire Police have also urged the public not to speculate or circulate information online, warning that doing so could affect the integrity of the legal process. 

Baby S has no public name.

She was only a newborn.

But the details now emerging in court have left an entire community asking how a baby who had barely begun her life could become the center of such a devastating criminal investigation.

Five people now face charges.

One tiny life was lost.

And the full story of what happened inside that Sheffield home has yet to be determined in court.
