BABY S WAS JUST A NEWBORN — NOW A COURT HAS HEARD THE HORRIFYING DETAILS OF HER FINAL MOMENTS

A newborn girl found dead inside a Sheffield home suffered 33 wounds in 15 separate stabbings, a court has heard — as four adults face murder charges and a teenager faces a separate allegation of attempting to conceal what happened.

The case surrounding Baby S has shocked Sheffield after prosecutors revealed new details about the injuries suffered by the infant, who was only days old when she died.

The baby was discovered at a property in the Wincobank area of Sheffield on Aug. 30.

According to evidence presented in court, a post-mortem examination found that Baby S had suffered 33 wounds resulting from 15 separate stabbings.

Prosecutors said the injuries affected her face and torso, both front and back.

The revelations came as four adults appeared before the courts accused of the baby’s murder.

FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES

The defendants are Andrea Skopova, 20; Peter Horvath Jr., 19; Peter Horvath Sr., 38; and Nina Horvathova, 37.

Skopova is alleged to be Baby S’s mother.

The court heard that she was the girlfriend of Peter Horvath Jr., although prosecutors said he is not believed to be the baby’s father and that the father’s identity is unknown.

All four adults are charged with murder.

They also face allegations of causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice in connection with efforts allegedly made to conceal what happened.

All four defendants are Slovakian nationals.

They have been remanded in custody.

THE BABY WAS ALLEGEDLY HIDDEN

The circumstances surrounding the discovery of Baby S added another disturbing layer to the case.

Prosecutors told the court that the newborn’s body was found wrapped in a towel and placed inside a blue bag.

She was then found on top of a washing machine in an outbuilding at the property, according to evidence presented in court.

The four adults are accused of taking steps to conceal the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.

A 15-year-old girl has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Because of her age, she cannot legally be identified.

She appeared in court separately and was remanded into youth custody before appearing alongside the other defendants at Sheffield Crown Court.

EMOTIONAL COURT APPEARANCE

The latest hearing was an emotional one.

At Sheffield Crown Court, the five defendants sat in a glass-fronted dock as members of their families watched from the public gallery.

Skopova and the 15-year-old girl were reported to have sobbed during the proceedings.

Seven security guards and other court staff surrounded the defendants, while two Slovak interpreters were also present.

The proceedings were closely watched by members of the public and relatives of those involved.

Outside the property where Baby S was discovered, flowers and tributes have been left as the community reacts to the tragedy.

TRIAL SET FOR 2027

Judge Sarah Wright has set a provisional trial date of April 12, 2027.

The trial is expected to last approximately six to seven weeks.

The defendants are due to return to court for another hearing on Oct. 2.

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder remain on bail as the investigation continues.

South Yorkshire Police have urged people not to speculate publicly about the case while the investigation and criminal proceedings remain active.

The Crown Prosecution Service has also stressed that the defendants have the right to a fair trial and that nothing should be shared or reported in a way that could prejudice the proceedings.

A NEWBORN AT THE CENTER OF A SHOCKING CASE

Baby S had only just entered the world.

Now, her short life has become the center of a major criminal investigation and a future murder trial.

The court has heard allegations involving 33 wounds, 15 separate stabbings and an alleged attempt to conceal her body.

But those allegations have yet to be tested at trial.

For now, four adults stand accused of murder, while a 15-year-old girl faces a separate charge.

The full circumstances surrounding Baby S’s death — including exactly what happened inside the Sheffield property and who was responsible — will ultimately be determined through the court process.

The trial is not expected to begin until April 2027.

Until then, the case remains one of the most disturbing newborn death investigations currently before a British court.
