And now, a new toxicology finding is revealing another disturbing detail about what investigators believe happened inside a Mechanicville, New York, apartment in June.

Harper Harmon, 13, Hudson Harmon, 11, and 10-year-old twins Gavin and Gracelynn were found dead alongside their mother, Sarah Myers, 44, and grandmother, Amy Steadman, 64.

According to a new report cited by NewsChannel 13, all four children had diphenhydramine — the active ingredient in Benadryl and other allergy medications — and kratom in their blood.

The discovery has added another disturbing layer to a case that investigators believe was connected to a bitter custody dispute.

THE CHILDREN WERE SUPPOSED TO SEE THEIR FATHER

For years, Myers had been involved in a contentious custody battle with her former husband, Brady Harmon.

Harmon had not seen his children in person for years.

Then, in 2026, he was preparing to finally spend an extended period with them in Utah.

He had been making plans for their arrival.

He had imagined taking them outdoors, visiting national parks and giving them time to reconnect with relatives.

Instead, the children never made the trip.

THE LAST CONVERSATION

Harmon said he last spoke with the children by video on June 7.

Three days later, Myers reportedly told him that the children were sick and that they would speak again the following day.

That conversation never happened.

Harmon became increasingly worried.

He said he contacted police multiple times after he could not reach the children.

Then came the devastating discovery.

On June 23, officers conducted a welfare check at Steadman’s apartment in Mechanicville.

Inside, they found all six family members dead.

Investigators believe the children had already been dead for days.

THE TOXICOLOGY RESULTS

The latest information now provides a clearer picture of what investigators believe happened to the children.

Sources told NewsChannel 13 that diphenhydramine and kratom were detected in the blood of all four siblings.

Authorities have previously said they believe Myers and Steadman planned to poison the children.

Three of the children — Harper, Hudson and Gracelynn — reportedly died as a result of the poisoning.

Gavin apparently survived the initial attempt.

Investigators say he was then fatally stabbed and had defensive injuries, suggesting he may have fought back.

THE MESSAGES THAT HAUNT INVESTIGATORS

Investigators have also described a series of disturbing messages and internet searches allegedly recovered from Steadman’s phone.

Among the searches were questions about medication reactions and what insulin could do to someone without diabetes.

Later searches allegedly focused on where a stabbing would be most fatal.

Police also say the women communicated about the children’s condition as the plan unfolded.

One message allegedly sent by Gracelynn was particularly heartbreaking.

The 10-year-old reportedly asked why the women were doing this and said they would not let her vomit.

Steadman allegedly responded to Myers that Gracelynn was aware of what was happening.

A CUSTODY BATTLE AT THE CENTER

Investigators believe the tragedy was connected to the bitter custody dispute between Myers and Harmon.

Authorities found a handwritten note in which Steadman allegedly claimed the children were being protected from their father.

Myers had also made allegations of abuse against Harmon.

But Harmon has denied those allegations, and authorities have said they found no evidence supporting them. He has never been charged with wrongdoing in connection with those claims.

For Harmon, the explanation offered afterward could never justify what happened to his children.

He has described the loss as an unimaginable act of cruelty.
