Grandfather struck and killed by driver in Orange County

Loved ones are devastated after a grandfather was struck and killed by a driver at a busy intersection in Santa Ana.
On Sept. 4, Robert Fore, 72, was riding a bicycle near McFadden Avenue and Fairview Street when he was rear-ended by a vehicle just before 7 p.m. The collision knocked the elderly man off his bike.
Santa Ana police officers working nearby witnessed the crash and rushed over to help. Robert was found lying on the roadway with significant injuries.
Despite lifesaving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver who hit him remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police said the driver did not appear to be impaired.
Loved ones, including his daughter, Robin Fore, said they are heartbroken and distraught.
“I miss my dad so much and wish I could spend more time with him and see him again,” she wrote on a GoFundMe page for her family. “My daughter has been having a very difficult time with losing her grandpa, and this has been a painful loss for both of us.”
Robin said her father “spent a good amount of his life helping people with mental health.” He brought joy to those around him and loved spending time with his family.

“I am asking for help because I cannot afford the cost of the services on my own,” Robin said. “I want to give my dad a beautiful service and honor his life with the care and dignity he deserves.”
The deadly crash remains under investigation by the Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigation Unit.
