12-Year-Old Boy Begins Long Road to Recovery After Surviving Devastating Highway Crash

A 12-year-old boy is now on a long road to recovery after a devastating crash in Western Australia claimed the lives of two drivers and left him critically injured.

The accident happened on August 3, 2026, along the North West Coastal Highway in the Hamelin Pool area near Shark Bay.

A RAM vehicle towing a caravan collided head-on with a Toyota LandCruiser.

The boy’s 60-year-old grandfather, who was driving the RAM, and the 45-year-old driver of the LandCruiser both died at the scene.

The 12-year-old boy and his grandmother suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to Perth for urgent medical treatment.

By August 7, the boy was still receiving treatment as his family worked to raise funds to help support them through the difficult aftermath of the crash.

But weeks later, there was a reason for hope.

By September 11, the boy was reported to be beginning a long journey toward recovery after being given what his loved ones described as a “second chance at life.”
