More than three months after 12-year-old Xavier Taylor was struck in the neck by a baseball during warmups, collapsed and suffered cardiac arrest, the prayers surrounding his fight are reaching a moment his family could never have imagined.

Soon, they could fill an entire stadium.

On Saturday, September 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., churches, families, pastors, prayer groups and believers are being invited to gather at Karcher Field at the Woodlawn Sports Center in Maple Shade, New Jersey, for a special Night of Prayer & Praise centered around Xavier and his recovery.

But organizers are asking for something even bigger.

They want people across the country — and around the world — to stop at the same time and pray.

Not only inside churches.

Not only on the baseball field.

But wherever people can gather.

In sanctuaries.

Around kitchen tables.

In homes.

In prayer circles.

And through the livestream.

The goal is simple:

“Light the map up” with prayer.

Xavier’s story began on May 26, when a routine baseball warmup suddenly became a life-threatening emergency.

The 12-year-old was struck in the neck by a baseball, collapsed and went into cardiac arrest before being rushed to the hospital.

Since then, his family has faced months of uncertainty while Xavier continues his fight.

But outside the hospital, something remarkable has happened.

His name has traveled far beyond Maple Shade.

Baseball teams have worn No. 6 in his honor.

Bats have appeared on porches.

Communities have gathered for vigils.

Youth sports organizations have raised money.

Families who have never met Xavier have stopped to pray for him.

And now, organizers are hoping that support will become a nationwide — even worldwide — moment of prayer.

They are asking churches and Christian organizations to join the September 19 event and to share photos and testimonies from their own prayer gatherings.

The focus will be Xavier’s healing.
