SHE HAD ONLY JUST ENTERED THE WORLD — NOW BABY S IS AT THE CENTER OF A HEARTBREAKING COURT CASE

A newborn girl known only as Baby S in court documents was found dead in Sheffield days after being born. Four adults have been charged with murder, while a 15-year-old girl faces a separate charge.

A LIFE THAT HAD ONLY JUST BEGUN

Baby S had only just entered the world when her life came to a devastating end.

The newborn was found dead at a property on Holywell Heights in the Wincobank area of Sheffield on August 30, after police were called following concerns about the safety of an infant.

A forensic post-mortem later determined that the baby’s cause of death was stab wounds, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The circumstances surrounding her death have since become the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation and court proceedings.

FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES

Prosecutors have charged four adults in connection with Baby S’s death.

They are Andrea Skopova, 20; Peter Horvath Jr., 19; Peter Horvath Sr., 38; and Nina Horvathova, 37.

All four have been charged with murder, as well as causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.

A 15-year-old girl has also been charged with perverting the course of justice. She cannot legally be identified because of her age.

The defendants remain in custody as the case moves through the courts.

WHAT THE COURT HAS HEARD

At an earlier hearing, prosecutors told the court that Baby S had suffered 33 wounds in 15 separate stabbings.

The court heard that injuries were found on her face and torso, including both the front and back of her body.

She was reportedly discovered on top of a washing machine at the Sheffield property.

The details presented in court form part of the prosecution case and have not been established as facts by a trial verdict.

A CASE THAT WILL NOW GO TO TRIAL

The four adults appeared at Sheffield Crown Court alongside the 15-year-old defendant.

Judge Sarah Wright set a trial date for April 12, 2027. The trial is expected to last between six and seven weeks.

A further hearing is scheduled for October 2.

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, remain on bail after previously being arrested on suspicion of murder.

The baby’s father is currently unknown and prosecutors told the court that Peter Horvath Jr. is not believed to be her father. Skopova, who is 20, is Horvath Jr.’s girlfriend, while Horvath Sr. is his father.

BEYOND THE COURTROOM

For the legal proceedings, Baby S is identified only by an initial.

But behind that single letter was a newborn child whose life had barely begun.

She never had the chance to take her first steps, celebrate a birthday, discover the world around her or grow up surrounded by the memories that families normally build with their children.

As the investigation and court proceedings continue, those details remain at the center of a case that has left a community searching for answers.

THE CASE IS STILL BEFORE THE COURTS

The Crown Prosecution Service has stressed that the charges are not findings of guilt. The defendants have the right to a fair trial, and any allegations made against them must ultimately be tested in court.

The CPS has also warned against online commentary or the sharing of information that could prejudice the proceedings.

For now, the story of Baby S remains unfinished in the eyes of the law.

But one fact is already undeniable: her life mattered, even though it lasted only a short time.
