HE DIDN’T EXPECT THIS SHOCKING EXIT… SIR TOM JONES LEAVES THE VOICE UK AFTER 13 YEARS AS ITV UNVEILS A MAJOR SHAKE-UP
THE LEGENDARY COACH IS OUT — AND THE VOICE UK IS ENTERING A COMPLETELY NEW ERA
After years in the famous red chair, Sir Tom Jones is leaving The Voice UK as ITV announces a dramatic new line-up for the show’s next series.
The news marks the end of one of the longest-running coaching eras in the programme’s history — and fans are now facing a version of The Voice UK that looks very different from the one they have known.
ITV confirmed the change on September 11, announcing its new line-up for Series 15, which will air in 2027.
And Sir Tom Jones will not be returning.
A MAJOR CHANGE TO THE RED CHAIRS
The new series will feature a completely revamped coaching panel.
Aitch and Cheryl will make their debuts as coaches, while Kelly Rowland will return for a second series.
They will join long-standing coach will.i.am.
The show will also have new hosts, with Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon taking over presenting duties.
That means Tom Jones, Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Emma Willis will all be absent from the next series.
ITV PAYS TRIBUTE TO TOM JONES
While the announcement came as a major surprise to viewers, ITV’s statement did not describe Tom’s departure as a firing.
Instead, the broadcaster thanked the legendary singer for his years on the programme and the “countless incredible and unforgettable moments” he gave audiences and contestants.
ITV described him as “irreplaceable” and praised the joy he brought to the show and to the singers who performed for him.
The statement, however, did not explain why Tom is leaving or whether the decision was made by him, ITV, or both.
That unanswered question is likely to fuel plenty of fan speculation.
FROM THE ORIGINAL ERA TO A NEW GENERATION
Tom Jones has been one of the defining faces of The Voice UK.
As recently as 2025, ITV had announced that he would return alongside will.i.am, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, with Kelly Rowland joining the panel.
Now, just one series later, the programme is preparing for another major transformation.
The familiar red chairs will soon belong to a new generation of coaches — and fans will have to wait until 2027 to see how the new era unfolds.
FANS ARE LEFT ASKING ONE BIG QUESTION
For viewers who have watched Tom Jones return to that famous chair year after year, his absence will be impossible to miss.
Was this simply the right moment for a new chapter?
Was ITV looking for a fresh direction?
Or is there more behind the decision than the broadcaster has revealed?
For now, ITV has given fans the tribute — but not the full explanation.
And that may be exactly why Sir Tom Jones’ departure is already becoming one of the biggest talking points surrounding the next season of The Voice UK.
