A desperate search for a missing New York newlywed has ended in tragedy after Dominick Bianchi, 35, was found dead in a wooded area nearly a week after he disappeared.
Bianchi was last seen on the morning of September 8 at his home in East Greenbush, near Albany, New York. His disappearance immediately raised concern because he had left without several essential personal belongings, including his cellphone and wallet, while his car also remained at home.
On Sunday night, September 13, the East Greenbush Police Department confirmed that Bianchi had been found deceased.
Police did not initially release the exact location where his body was discovered or provide a cause of death. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
HE HAD ONLY BEEN MARRIED FOR MONTHS
The news was especially devastating for Bianchi’s family because he had married Julianna Zyra only a few months earlier.
The couple had begun a new chapter together when Bianchi suddenly disappeared from their East Greenbush home.
His wife had publicly pleaded for him to come home, asking people who might see him to understand that he was struggling and needed support.
“If you’re seeing this, please, come home,” Zyra said in an emotional appeal reported by ABC News.
She told local media that Bianchi was a Type 1 diabetic and had been experiencing mental health difficulties.
His continuous glucose monitor was paired with the cellphone he had left behind, and she did not know whether he had insulin with him when he disappeared. Those circumstances intensified the urgency of the search.
A SEARCH THAT GREW BY THE DAY
Authorities and community members worked together to try to locate Bianchi.
Police used drones and canine teams, while other agencies, including the New York State Police, assisted with the search.
Residents were asked to check properties, sheds, vehicles, trail cameras and home surveillance footage for anything that might help investigators determine where Bianchi had gone.

But the search ultimately ended with the discovery of Bianchi’s body.
