“NOT INTERESTED!” TOM JONES FANS TURN ON THE VOICE AFTER LEGENDARY SINGER IS DROPPED
Fans have threatened to stop watching The Voice UK after Sir Tom Jones was removed from the coaching line-up, with some viewers calling the decision a huge mistake.
Fans of Sir Tom Jones have been left furious after the legendary Welsh singer was dropped as a full-time coach on The Voice UK.
The 86-year-old music icon has been a familiar face on the ITV singing competition since its launch in 2012, missing only the fifth series.
Now, his departure has triggered an emotional reaction online, with some longtime viewers saying the show simply will not feel the same without him.
“NOT INTERESTED NOW”
News of Tom’s departure quickly sparked a wave of reaction from fans.
Some viewers threatened to boycott the new series, while others said they were no longer interested in watching after discovering that the singer would not be returning as a full-time coach.
One recurring sentiment was that Tom had become much more than just another judge — he was regarded by many viewers as an essential part of the show’s identity.
The reaction comes as ITV prepares to introduce a completely revamped coaching panel for the next series.
TOM JONES SAYS HE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE
Tom himself made clear that leaving The Voice UK was not his choice.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the singer said he “did not want to leave” the programme and revealed that ITV had made the decision.
According to Tom, he was told that financial difficulties surrounding insurance were part of the reason behind the decision.
He also said he had been offered a much-reduced role that would not involve participating fully in the show — an arrangement he did not want.
ITV subsequently said it wanted to “refresh” the programme while describing Tom as “irreplaceable.”
The broadcaster has also indicated that discussions about possible future involvement with the singer could continue.
A MAJOR SHAKE-UP
Tom’s departure is only part of a much bigger transformation at The Voice UK.
For the new series, Cheryl and Aitch are joining the coaching panel alongside returning stars Kelly Rowland and will.i.am.
Meanwhile, Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher are leaving their coaching positions.
The programme is also getting new presenters.
Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon will take over hosting duties from Emma Willis, who is moving on to present Strictly Come Dancing.
The changes represent one of the biggest line-up shake-ups in the show’s history.
FANS SAY TOM WILL BE MISSED
For many viewers, however, the biggest change is unmistakably Tom.
His calm personality, musical experience and unmistakable voice made him one of the programme’s most recognisable figures.
The angry response online has demonstrated just how strongly some fans feel about his departure.
Other celebrities have also expressed their support for the singer, including Carol Vorderman and Olly Murs.
Reports have also suggested that Tom’s fellow coach will.i.am was particularly upset by the news.
CAN THE VOICE MOVE ON WITHOUT HIM?
The new line-up could give The Voice UK a fresh identity, but it also faces a difficult challenge: winning over viewers who have spent more than a decade watching Tom Jones in the coaching chair.
For some fans, the answer already appears to be clear.
They have taken to social media to complain about the decision, with some declaring that they will not be tuning in.
Of course, those reactions represent individual viewers rather than the entire Voice UK audience.
But one thing is difficult to ignore — Tom Jones leaves behind some very big shoes to fill.
A legendary singer is out. A brand-new coaching team is in. And some longtime fans are already threatening to walk away.
THE VOICE IS CHANGING — BUT WILL VIEWERS ACCEPT IT WITHOUT TOM JONES?
