Police later released CCTV footage showing Noah at the playground shortly before he disappeared.

According to Suffolk Police, the last confirmed sighting was recorded at approximately 2:37 p.m.

The footage showed Noah in the play area before he appeared to leave via an alleyway beside the playground, heading toward a nearby new-build housing estate and in the direction of the water.

The information became an important part of the search as officers focused on areas surrounding the village.

Specialist search officers, police dogs, helicopters, HM Coastguard teams and Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service all took part in the operation.

A specialist diving team from the Metropolitan Police was also deployed to assist with searches of the water.

SEARCH FOCUSED ON DECOY POND

As the operation continued, Decoy Pond, a fishing lake close to the playground, became one of the key search locations.

The area was cordoned off while specialist teams searched the water.

Then, on Wednesday afternoon, police confirmed the devastating discovery.

Suffolk Police Superintendent Tom Pearse said that police and fire teams had recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond.

At the time of the announcement, formal identification had not yet taken place, but Noah’s family had been informed of the development.

Police said the discovery was being treated as not suspicious but unexplained, and the coroner would be informed.
