GIRL, 4, DIES AFTER BEING FOUND UPSIDE DOWN IN WATER-FILLED TRASH CAN AT GEORGIA HOME

A Georgia family is mourning the devastating loss of a four-year-old girl who died after she was found unresponsive inside a large trash can filled with water at her home.

Jayde Wooten was discovered at a residence on Rocky Creek Road in Macon, Georgia, on September 19, according to authorities and an incident report obtained by local media.

She was taken to a hospital after neighbors and emergency responders attempted to revive her, but she was later pronounced dead.

The circumstances surrounding the tragedy remain under investigation.

JAYDE WAS FOUND INSIDE A LARGE CONTAINER

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the home shortly before 2 p.m. on September 19 following a report of a medical emergency.

According to an incident report reviewed by WGXA, Jayde’s father had just arrived home when he realized he could not find his daughter in her bedroom.

He searched throughout the house and also went outside to ask neighbors whether they had seen the child.

The report states that the girl’s mother had been asleep and told him Jayde had previously been in the kitchen eating before she fell asleep.

The father continued searching until he heard the child’s mother scream.

He then ran back inside and found Jayde upside down inside a large trash can filled with water and fish in a small bathroom, according to the report.

Her father pulled her from the container and carried her outside while neighbors rushed to help.

NEIGHBORS TRIED TO SAVE HER

Two neighbors helped perform CPR while emergency crews were on their way.

According to the incident report, one neighbor told deputies that she and another resident took turns performing CPR on Jayde.

The child was eventually transported to a local medical facility, where she was pronounced dead.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that an investigation remains ongoing.

The Macon-Bibb County Coroner’s Office told PEOPLE that autopsy results were still pending.

That means the official cause and manner of Jayde’s death had not yet been released.

FAMILY DESCRIBES THE DEATH AS A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to help Jayde’s parents with funeral expenses and other costs following the tragedy.

The fundraiser describes the death as a “horrible accident” and asks the community to support the grieving family.
