HARRY SALM, 9, DIES AFTER BRAVE BATTLE WITH BRAIN CANCER — HIS FINAL GIFT WAS A STORY HE CREATED HIMSELF

A nine-year-old boy who spent much of his childhood battling an aggressive brain tumour has died, leaving behind a story, a family and a community determined to remember him for the joy he brought to others.

Harry was first diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive cancerous brain tumour, in 2022.

The diagnosis came only 14 days after the birth of his younger sister, Millie.

For Harry and his parents, Andy and Vicki, what should have been a joyful period for the family suddenly became the beginning of a long and difficult medical journey.

Harry underwent major surgery before receiving months of proton beam therapy in Germany and almost a year of chemotherapy in the UK.

Despite the treatment and everything he had to endure, his family said he showed remarkable courage, resilience and positivity.

Fundraiser by Peter Jennings : In memory of Harry Salm aged 9THE CANCER RETURNED

After Harry had made progress following his initial treatment, his family received devastating news in February 2026.

The cancer had returned.

This time, they were told there were no curative treatment options available and that his condition was terminal.

His parents then focused on making the time they had with Harry as meaningful as possible.

Together with his little sister Millie, they filled his days with love, laughter, adventures and memories that his family says they will treasure forever.

HE CREATED HIS OWN CHILDREN’S BOOK

Even while facing his illness, Harry continued to create.

One of his proudest achievements was a children’s book called “Monster Catchers.”

According to the family’s fundraising page, the book reflected Harry’s imagination, creativity and determination to leave something special behind.

It became part of the legacy of a nine-year-old who had experienced far more than most children his age, yet continued to find ways to express his imagination.

‘FOREVER 9. FOREVER LOVED’

Following Harry’s death, his godfather Peter Jennings established a fundraiser to help support Harry’s parents and his sister as they navigate life without him.

The fundraiser described Harry as a boy whose courage touched many people and whose family had been surrounded by an extraordinary amount of love and support.

As of the latest update, the campaign had raised more than £4,600 from over 260 donations, exceeding its original £3,000 target.

The family’s message is simple:

Harry may have been only nine, but the memories he created will last far longer.

His story began with a devastating diagnosis, continued through years of treatment and ended far too soon.

But among the memories he leaves behind is something he created himself — a story born from the imagination of a little boy who still had so much he wanted to share with the world.

Forever 9. Forever loved. Forever Harry. ❤️
