Ex-couple Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck took their 14-year-old son out to shoot paintball for his birthday, on February 28.

The two were spotted at Combat Paintball Park in California on Saturday afternoon. The two stars, both 53 years old, wore activewear, carried paintball shooting gear and walked closely together. Samuel’s son followed with two boys.

At one point, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck separated and moved in different areas of the premises. Their two eldest daughters, Violet (20 years old) and Seraphina (17 years old), were absent from the outing.

This joint appearance took place a few days after the Alias actress openly shared about raising children with Ben after breaking up in 2015. On the One Nightstand podcast in February, Jennifer said that her children growing up in two different homes forced both her and her ex-husband to take on more roles.

“When our children live under two roofs, each of us has to shoulder both the roles of father and mother. There’s no natural balance in the family, so you have to reconcile those two roles,” Jennifer said.

The mother of three admits that it brings a bit of difficulty, but at the same time, it is also an opportunity to learn to let go and reduce the pressure of having to control everything in the process of raising children.

Over the years, Garner and Affleck have maintained a civilized relationship to take care of their children together, often appearing together on birthdays or holidays. In March last year, they were also seen taking Samuel out to play paintball for his birthday, and Ben even hugged his ex-wife intimately.

The former couple also reunited to take their children out many times, such as when Samuel and Seraphina went to a Red Sox baseball team game in July, or the whole family went to the cinema together last December.

Currently, Ben Affleck – who used to be married to singer Jennifer Lopez period 2022 to 2024 – reportedly single, while Jennifer Garner has been dating businessman John Miller since 2018.
