Man convicted in 2021 Kamarie Holland murder case to to be executed by lethal injection on Thursday

The case surrounding the 2021 murder of young Kamarie Holland is reaching another major legal milestone, with the man convicted in her death scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Thursday.

Kamarie Holland was just 5 years old when she disappeared from her home in Columbus, Georgia, in December 2021. Her disappearance immediately triggered a search involving law enforcement and members of the community. Later that same day, authorities found the child dead in Phenix City, Alabama, turning the search into a homicide investigation.

Investigators eventually arrested Jeremy Tremaine Williams in connection with the case. Prosecutors alleged that Williams was responsible for the child’s kidnapping and death. The case ultimately moved through the Alabama court system as a capital murder prosecution.

In 2024, Williams was convicted of multiple capital murder charges and sentenced to death. The conviction brought a measure of legal resolution to a case that had devastated Kamarie’s family and shocked residents in both Georgia and Alabama.

Williams later waived his remaining appeals, allowing the state to move forward with the execution process. His conviction and death sentence were subsequently upheld through the appropriate appellate proceedings.

Alabama officials have scheduled the execution for Thursday at Holman Correctional Facility. The state has established an execution window during which the sentence may be carried out, barring any last-minute legal intervention.

The scheduled execution represents the latest chapter in a case that began with the disappearance of a young child and led to a lengthy investigation, prosecution and appeals process. For Kamarie’s family, the legal proceedings have unfolded alongside the lasting grief of losing a child at such a young age.

As Thursday approaches, attention is once again focused on the case, the court decisions that led to the death sentence and the final legal steps remaining before the state carries out the punishment.
