GOLFING DREAM CUT SHORT: RISING STAR JESSICA BANG DIES AT JUST 18

Jessica Bang was only 18, but she had already begun building the professional golf career she had dreamed of. Then, while preparing for a tournament in Thailand, everything changed in a matter of moments.

SHE WAS PREPARING FOR HER NEXT BIG CHANCE

Jessica had travelled to Bangkok to prepare for the KLPGA Tour’s International Qualifying Tournament.

The young Australian had only recently turned professional, but her early results had already suggested that something special was developing.

Earlier this year, during just her fifth professional start, Jessica won the Ford Women’s NSW Open Regional Qualifying Event at Moss Vale.

Her final round was extraordinary.

An eight-under-par 65.

Her first professional victory.

And a new course record at Moss Vale Golf Club.

THEN CAME THE MEDICAL EMERGENCY

On August 1, Jessica suddenly collapsed in Thailand after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

She was rushed to Synphat Ramintra Hospital in Bangkok, where doctors performed emergency brain surgery.

She was subsequently placed on life support in intensive care.

Her family launched a fundraising campaign hoping to bring her back to Australia and allow her to recover surrounded by the people who loved her.

But that journey home never happened.

A FAMILY’S HEARTBREAK

Jessica died on August 13, aged just 18.

Her cousins later described the family as “truly heartbroken,” while asking people to remember Jessica not only for the tragedy of her final days, but for her personality, passion and achievements.

The money raised through the family’s appeal is now expected to help with her medical expenses and support her parents.

A CAREER THAT HAD ONLY JUST BEGUN

Jessica turned professional in November 2025.

Her victory at Moss Vale came only months later.

She had also recently qualified for her rookie season with the WPGA/KLPGA, giving her the opportunity to take another major step in her career.

Those who knew her remembered more than her golfing ability.

They remembered her energy.

Her humor.

Her determination.

And the bright future that seemed to be waiting for her.
