POLICE SUSPECT FOUL PLAY AFTER CHANTEL BROOKS VANISHES WITHOUT A TRACE

FAIRFIELD, CALIFORNIA — More than a month after 36-year-old Chantel “Cici” Brooks disappeared, investigators have made a significant shift in the case, saying they now believe her disappearance involved foul play.

But authorities have not disclosed what specific evidence led them to that conclusion, leaving Brooks’ family desperate for answers as the search continues.

HER LAST KNOWN MOVEMENTS

Brooks was last seen on July 17.

Surveillance footage showed her leaving her job at a hotel in San Francisco around 12:20 a.m. Later, at approximately 1:45 a.m., cameras captured her leaving a CVS on East Travis Boulevard in Fairfield and walking toward her vehicle.

She was wearing a brown multicolored hat, a red zip-up sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and brown furry boots.

That would become the last confirmed sighting of her.

HER SUV IS ALSO MISSING

Brooks was driving a black 2021 Infiniti QX50.

Fairfield police say the vehicle was later detected by a Flock automated license-plate camera in Oakland, but investigators have not located the SUV.

The missing vehicle has now become an important part of the investigation because authorities are asking anyone who may have seen it since Brooks disappeared to come forward.

POLICE HAVE CONDUCTED A MAJOR SEARCH

The investigation has expanded considerably.

Detectives have executed dozens of search warrants, conducted coordinated ground searches with search-and-rescue resources and carried out extensive aerial drone searches.

Authorities are also working with the Solano County District Attorney’s Office as they continue following leads.

Despite those efforts, Brooks has not been located.

Brooks’ brothers have continued searching and raising awareness about her disappearance.

They say the sudden loss of contact was completely out of character for their sister, who they describe as outgoing and closely connected to her family.
