Family Seeks Answers After 6-Year-Old Dies Following Hours on Daycare Bus
The family of 6-year-old Winter Jones is seeking answers after the young girl died following an incident in which she was reportedly left on a daycare bus for several hours in Memphis, Tennessee.

Winter was dropped off by her father at Kid University daycare on the morning of August 13, 2026. According to her family, she was supposed to be taken to school but apparently remained on the bus after it returned to the daycare.
She was reportedly discovered unresponsive around 3 p.m., after the vehicle had been sitting outside in temperatures reaching approximately 97°F (36°C).
Winter’s family said her internal body temperature reached approximately 109°F (42.8°C). Relatives also described her as autistic and non-speaking, meaning she was unable to call for help herself.

The Memphis Police Department, the Tennessee Department of Human Services, and the Department of Children’s Services are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
As of the latest available reports, no criminal charges had been announced.
Winter’s family continues to seek answers about how she remained on the bus for so many hours and why she was not discovered sooner.
