10-Month-Old Kentucky Baby Dies After Being Left in Hot Car for Hours

A Kentucky family is mourning the death of 10-month-old Scottie Crowell, who reportedly died after being left inside a vehicle for approximately eight hours on August 13, 2026, in Madisonville.

According to police, the baby’s grandmother, Stacey Fazenbaker, a physician, picked up Scottie that morning intending to take the infant to daycare. Authorities said she instead drove to work and forgot that the baby remained in the back seat.

Fazenbaker reportedly arrived at work around 8 a.m., and Scottie was discovered inside the vehicle at approximately 4 p.m.

Temperatures outside that day reached between 92°F and 95°F (33–35°C). A weather sensor reportedly recorded temperatures inside the vehicle reaching approximately 115°F (46°C).

An autopsy has been performed, but officials have not yet released the final results.

As of the latest reports, no criminal charges had been filed. Madisonville police and Kentucky Child Protective Services are investigating the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death, and the case is expected to be presented to a grand jury.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet announced whether charges will ultimately be filed.
