When little Kyrie entered the world weighing just five pounds, his family had no idea how extraordinary the battle ahead would be.

He was born with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD), a rare condition that caused his kidneys to become extraordinarily enlarged — reaching roughly the size of adult kidneys despite his tiny newborn body.

From his earliest days, Kyrie needed intensive medical care. His oversized kidneys placed enormous strain on his fragile body, and doctors eventually had to remove both kidneys in separate procedures.

Now, at just a few months old, Kyrie has already spent around two months in the NICU.

Without functioning kidneys, he depends on daily dialysis while his medical team waits for suitable kidneys that are small enough for his little body.

Despite everything he has been through, Kyrie continues to show a remarkable determination. Between treatments and hospital stays, he still finds comfort in the simplest things — especially the daily hugs he receives from the people who love him most.

His twin brother, older siblings and parents gather around him whenever they can, bringing smiles and warmth to days that can otherwise feel overwhelming.

“His little smiles remind us why we keep going,” his family shared. “He has been through so much already, but he still finds a way to brighten our days.”

For his parents, watching their tiny son face such a difficult medical journey has been heartbreaking, but they remain hopeful for the day he can receive kidneys suited to his growing body.

“We just want Kyrie to have the chance to grow up, play with his siblings and enjoy the ordinary moments every child deserves,” they said.
