MISSING NYC GRANDMA ALISA GOODS: SURVEILLANCE VIDEO REVEALS HER FINAL MOMENTS BEFORE HER BODY WAS FOUND
For nearly two weeks, 63-year-old Alisa Goods was at the center of a desperate search after disappearing during a trip to Las Vegas.
Now, investigators have uncovered surveillance footage that may show her final moments alive — and the discovery has left her family facing even more unanswered questions.
Goods was found dead early Thursday, Aug. 20, in a drainage ditch near Harry Reid International Airport. Her body was located near Wayne Newton Boulevard and the Terminal 1 parking garage, according to police.
THE LAST MOMENTS CAPTURED ON CAMERA
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, surveillance footage from Aug. 8 shows Goods falling down an embankment, getting back up, and then collapsing again.
After that, police said, there was no further movement visible on the footage.
Her location was apparently hidden from people passing on the nearby street, which may help explain why she remained undiscovered for days.
The footage is now one of the most important pieces of evidence as investigators work to understand exactly what happened.
SHE HAD LEFT TO GO TO CVS
Goods had traveled from New York to Las Vegas to visit a longtime friend.
On Aug. 8, she reportedly left her friend’s residence to go shopping at a nearby CVS.
She never returned.
Her family became increasingly alarmed after she missed her flight home, and relatives traveled to Las Vegas to help search for her. Flyers were distributed as investigators and volunteers tried to retrace her movements.
There was another detail that made the disappearance even more frightening.
THEN HER PHONE STARTED SENDING STRANGE MESSAGES
After Goods disappeared, her family said messages began coming from her phone asking for money, gas money and eventually Bitcoin.
Her niece, Alana Calloway, immediately became suspicious.
The messages did not sound like Alisa.
Calloway said she knew something was wrong because the person communicating from the phone appeared to know things that did not make sense.
The mysterious messages intensified the family’s fear that someone else may have had access to Goods’ phone.
BUT POLICE HAVE NOT ANNOUNCED FOUL PLAY
Despite the disturbing circumstances surrounding the disappearance, authorities have not publicly announced that Goods was murdered.
Her cause and manner of death have not yet been released.
Investigators must now determine what caused her to fall into the drainage area and whether her death resulted from the fall, a medical emergency, another circumstance — or something else.
At this point, it would be premature to draw conclusions about what happened.
HER FAMILY HAD REASON TO BE WORRIED
Goods had recently undergone multiple surgeries on her legs, according to her family.
That detail is significant because investigators are now examining surveillance footage showing her struggling on an embankment before collapsing.
It remains unclear whether her medical history played a role in what happened that afternoon.
WHY WASN’T SHE FOUND SOONER?
Perhaps the most haunting question is how Goods could remain undiscovered for nearly two weeks.
Police said the location where she was found was not visible from the street.
That means people traveling through the area may have had no way of knowing that someone was down in the drainage area.
Her body was ultimately discovered after police received a call about a deceased woman near the airport at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 20.
“OUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN”
After the discovery, Goods’ niece released a heartbreaking statement on behalf of the family.
The family thanked the public and media for helping spread the word during the search, while asking for continued prayers and privacy as they grieve.
Goods was a mother of five and grandmother of five.
Her daughter, Kristen, has also established a fundraiser to help cover memorial and funeral expenses.
THE QUESTIONS INVESTIGATORS STILL NEED TO ANSWER
The surveillance footage may have answered one major question — where Goods was during at least part of the day she disappeared.
But it raises others:
Why did she end up near the airport?
What caused her to fall?
Why did she collapse and never get back up?
Who was sending the messages from her phone?
And did anyone interact with her after she left the CVS?
For now, authorities have not publicly connected the suspicious messages to her death.
A SEARCH THAT ENDED WITH THE ANSWER NO FAMILY WANTED
For almost two weeks, Alisa Goods’ family hoped every new lead would bring her home.
Instead, investigators found her body in a hidden drainage ditch near a Las Vegas airport.
The newly reviewed surveillance footage gives investigators a clearer timeline — but it does not yet explain why her final moments unfolded that way.
A grandmother left home for a simple shopping trip.
A camera captured her final movements.
Her body was discovered nearly two weeks later.
And the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
For Alisa Goods’ family, the search is over.
But the search for answers has only begun.
